ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Ok, since Jacko has raised the subject, I have always matched prices on goods that I stock so long as it doesn't end up costing me money. That is, so long as I sell the goods for at least $1 more than they cost me (including shipping, etc) I will do the deal to keep the stock moving and keep the sales in Oz rather than going OS.

I will MATCH prices but will not try to BEAT them as that just starts crazy bidding wars that noone wins.

I still have some stock at pre dollar crash prices, so if you are in the market for some goodies with your KRUDDY DOLLARS, give me a call, e-mail or PM.

Cheers

Cheers for the axles Ado ,
I know you didnt make a thing at the price i got them for !
Hey can you give me a quote on how much the roger bros soles are from you?
so, for example, if we find a set of otangs from an american shop, for...95$ inc shipping you'll still try and beat their price? if so, that's totally awesome and you've just become my favourite person =D
i am interested in getting a complete set of either
abec 11 Grippins 80a or 78a
or
retro zigs 80a 70mm
could you please give me a price for these
email me at

james@inkpress.com.au

would you also stock any 2nd hand wheels ?...these are going on an old board for my little bro.

he wants to get into some carving as well.

cheers
The shops here in Australia selling you skate gear help all our races and freerides that we have organized. They give us a lot of support. This is due to us supporting them. The stuff you buy from OS may be cheaper, but remember they do not help out in anything we have going on here in Australia. Support your Australian skate shops for they are always supporting/sponsoring our events.
I second those comments entirely, as great as it may seem to save a few bucks by buying overseas,
I cant see myself dropping in on or phoning up any OS shop to have a chat about a new product.,
or trying to return anything.
Also i think its a bit rude to go into a retail shop try on all there helmets/gloves/undies whatever,
suck there brains of info then go buy it on ebay,
cos if you do it often enough all you'll have left to buy from is ebay.

I understand price wars/competition may be good for the consumer,
but i dont see any of the shop owners that support us rollin in cash so the margins cant be that great,
if they were we'd all be runnin skate shops.
Wayne.
I completely get you Wayne. But what about people like me? i'm a 15 year old, with no job due to lack of time. Between soccer training, soccer games and going to my tutor for my VCE maths, i have 3 days in the week where i don't have commitments after school, and 5 hours on a saturday when i'm able to do things while it's still light.

What i'm trying to get at is, to me, those few extra dollars here and there really add up.

sorry if i sounded rude or disrespectful, because i didn't mean to, i just wanted to offer my opinion

Hi Dale,
Wasn't pointin fingers just makin the point its important to support your local retailers,
if there is a price difference, try talkin to them explain what your tryin to do/buy,
haggle a deal, split the difference, hit the oldys up for some more allowence!

Soccer, what! who ever made any money from soccer? go pro with the skating!
haha =D I'm not looking for a career out of it, i just love the game.

OH! one of my good mates' brothers' friends (haha) runs a board building company called movement theory. they've been making shortboards for 4 years now (i'm not sure if they still do though, i haven't heard about them from him in a while) they also make wheels...which got me thinking...maybe i could try and embed the 'thought' of starting to build longboards + wheels, and who knows, we could have ourselves a new larger scale board and wheel company?

i had something else that i wanted to say...but now i can't remember what it was..and i have the feeling that it was rather important.
Dale, I reckon Oz shops should be able to match OS shops on price, except for occasional special deals that an OS shop might have, or maybe for rare items that would be hard for an Oz shop to get a hold of. If an Oz shop can't match the everyday price of an OS shop it indicates there's something going wrong somewhere.

And for your friend in deck/wheel business, yeah, sell him on making longboard stuff. It's niche, but it's growing, and any smart businessperson would want to cover that.
Dale this is not meant to bag you in anyway, I am just trying to point out one of the harsh realities of globalisation.

no job due to lack of time

Far better than no job due to lack of EMPLOYERS.......another good reason for supporting the locals!
yeah, again, i'm sorry if i sounded like an airheaded idiot, i know that it's hard to find work these days due to the recession, but i'm just trying to explain what my situation is, and i know that there being a serious lack of work around is a bigger issue than me not having the time to get a job, but if i had've said that i couldn't find a job, it would be lying, because i haven't even looked.

Bugs, i know that Oz stores should and can beat overseas prices, but after looking around, i worked out it'd be cheaper to get a board + wheels from overseas, while getting my trucks and bearings from Boardshop, and believe me, i tried every combination. However, at the time i didn't know about cre8ive, or many other of the skater run and owned stores in Oz, all i knew of was hemley, which while being a local store, was selling a set of randals for $120, and otangs for 100-140, i figured, if those two things were $30 more then boardshop, there wouldn't be any chance of anything else being cheaper (plus, reds were 30$).

again, i'm sorry if i sound like a...wanghead, and i probably do, because i'm sort of rushing this post and i haven't read over it, i'll be back in 20 minutes.
