40" Vault Dropdown, need good wheels for sliding, any recommendations?

Hey guys, i have got a 9 ply 12mm Canadian maple vault deck, reverse kingpin Trucks 7", abec - 7 Bearings/with spacer, 70 x 51mm clear 78A duo wheels, 8/14 mm angled riser pads. I have had this board for about 5 months and have havent done much bombing or going FAST. I just want to know if these wheels would be alright for sliding or do i need some new HARDER ones, cos my originals are too soft. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Jago

you can slide any wheel, those should be ok its all personal though, try them and find out
Sliding can be done on any wheels.
Harder one just make it a lil bit easier but make the ride feel like shit. All chattery and not alot of control when you want it.

That board in my opinion is not made for serious speed. The way the back angles up is going to make it alot less stable. You can fix it though.
This will help you understand what I'm talking about better.
You can make the rear truck better by adding wedges to make the truck become more flat with the deck. You'll just need to use longer deck bolts.

If you're having trouble sliding with softer wheels you need to tranfer your weight off the board and onto your hands more.

Google "Coleman Slides" or "Cliff Coleman Sliding" for video tips on youtube.
hey, is this your brother's board?? Rhys? If it is you might wanna swap out the bushings as well last time I saw it, it was close to shreded!

Yeah I understand how vault wheels are they can be abit hard to slide with them. I'd recommend getting gravity hi grades or drifters they're relatively cheap and are decent wheels.
before you get wheels, get a decent board. sorry to have to say that, but the fact is the Vault Dropdown is one of the worst boards on the market. They claim its a speedboard, but its anything but. flexy, narrow platform, positive wedging and to top it all off badly shaped/made. Unfortunately for you you have already wasted your wheel money on that thing, but let me tell you you won't regret spending the extra money on a good complete from anyone of the benefactors to the right of this page.
Ching! How did you know my brother? nice lol, naa i got my own one, not shredded like his, but same model and everything, just 3mm thinner. He is on Argentina at the moment tho bro haha. And cheers fitz for the detailed reply. I am thinkin about grabbin some sliding gloves, do you know anywhere chep to buy them? or is it easy making you own?
Thanks again fellahz!

Shit man... You serious? damn.. I have had some fun on this board tho.. although, i havent ridden any other long board haha. Oh well man, what would you reccommend for a beginner/intermediate who lives in Canberra and would really only be doing suburban riding, and probably some downhill?

ur bro use to skate with us on sunday nights
no point turfing it just yet dude. you're still gonna needsomething to ride until you can save for something better.
Just make sure you thrash the guts out of it like you bro did! Unless you're sponsored you aren't gonna wanna destroy anything but cheap wheels and with sliding, you will destroy them quick.
Omni drop 43 + randals+ retro free rides or powerballs, its one of the best best set ups for the money in my book, also check out a kracked skulls M1 good deck that takes a beating and is cheap
I've skated with him once with the melbourne crew. Cheaper to just make your own! Get some leather gloves from bunnings, industrial velcro and thick chopping block.

Honestly, if you're not gonna be going at any high speeds I think the drop down is okay for a beginner rider. But if you have the budget to upgrade then definitely go for it! I had a vault as my first board, was pretty happy with it until I upgraded.
Oh yeah I can hook you up with some cheap slide gloves to get you started. $35 shipped anywhere in Aus or come to CHC in sept and save yourself $10 shipping. No velcro on the pucks because these ones will last longer than the gloves. Double thick UHMW.
and would that be good for some downhill/freeriding/cruising in canberra. I dont know much about longboarding.
