V2 of my speedboard design.

Me and Pete pressed up a deck a couple of weekends ago and pulled it out of the press the next day and there was a bit of an issue. The resin hadn't cured correctly on the bottom of the board. The top and in between all of the bamboo was fine, but the bottom was still soft days after we pulled it out of the press. it was very close to being binned, but then i thought, bugger it, i dont want to waste the money and materials, so i got to salvaging. i removed the bottom layer of glass and resin using some pliers to peel it off, gave the deck a quick sand and it was ready for the carbon. i was originally just going to go for stringers, but thought, why the hell not, and went all out. the carbon was laid up by hand, no vac bagging on this one. there are a couple of blemishes as you may be able to see in the photos. i know what caused these now, so next one should be perfect. it was my first try using carbon, so im really happy with how it turned out. Ill post up the process i used to lay it up in another thread!

Below is the result. This board is smaller than the original, as after testing the first one it felt to be a little too large. this deck is shorter, and skinnier than the original, but fees great! when riding it i feel more precise as everything is closer together, and having the carbon on the bottom, it is even a little stiffer than the original

I will hopefully have another one churned out in a few weeks, so if anyone is interested in one, drop me a line and we can organise something!

also, i dont have a name for this deck yet, so if anyone has any ideas, throw them out there!

Cheers, Ash.

that thing is beautiful. i'm definitely saving up for one.
dead-set Ash this is the best homemade board i have ever seen

soooo clean
dude that looks so nice ay..
Thanks guys!!! im so happy with it :D havent had a change to really ride it yet, took it for a little ride down the street and it felt great! but will probably be wednesday before it gets a good test! we get the day off for the Ekka Holiday, so ill con the missus into driving for me :P

Specs are:

Length:1000
Wheel base inner hole to inner hole: 790
Width (widest): 250
Width (skinniest): 205

i hadnt planned on it being that skinny, my computer was retarded and didnt print to scale properly, but im happy with how it is. The next board may be 10mm wider over all, but thats it. my foot fits nicely while in tuck at the front and back, and it being a bit smaller length wise than the previous one feels alot better.
i'll have mine on kooky's and superballs thanks.... ;)

thats one nice board mate, erm....how much will you be looking?
i still havent decided...

a fair whack more work goes into the carbon one compared to the regular wood and glass version. at a stab about the 220 - 230 mark, which i think is pretty reasonable. let me know what you all think?
dude, considering it costs about that much for a good speedboard in australia anyway, thats a pretty good price.
$230 is n awesome price for a carbon board..
"glijnagel" A Dutch word meaning "Nail Glide", which is actually something you nail to the bottom of wooden furniture to stop it sliding on a wooden floor. WHAT?!? No one else had any suggestions!

Board looks awesome man, you could charge $300 for that and it's still an awesome price for a carbon board. Not that I would suggest you do that.

Peace
Dani
man that looks so nice! great work dude
any of you guys that are on silverfish, chuck a vote my way in the board building comp :D
