2020 ISSA Rules

What is it

The Australian National Slalom Championships (aka Capital Punishment 2020) will be run by the guys at CROSS, as volunteers of Canberra Skateboarding Association for the official Stromlo event and is happening at:

  • Ainslie Ditch on March 12,
  • Stromlo head to head and ISSA 25 cones March 13
  • Spence drains on March 14

Format

Head to Head slalom at Stromlo with a mixture of single race double elimination and dual race single elimination. The ditch slalom will be done on a Time-trial jam format.  See link above to 25 Cones rules

The Ditches

Ditch slalom with wicked acid drops and teeth of doom at Ainslie, and a more mellow toothless ditch at Spence.

Belco Bowl Jam

The Belco Bowl Jam will take place on the Saturday night and many people from our event will attend. We will have a presentation on Sunday night for the slalom.

Location

The head to Head slalom will on the Mt Stromlo criterium track at Stromlo Forest Park. The Ditch slalom will be at the famous teeth of doom at Ainslie Drains and a second drain event at Spence drains on the Monday.

 Categories

Everybody will race in the Opens with prizes for outstanding efforts from anyone who comes and races.

 Registration

Rider fee is $25 for Stromlo, $10 for Ainslie, $5 for Spence or $35 for everything.

Safety Requirements

  • Mandatory - Helmet
  • Recommended - Gloves and pads

 Presentations and raffle

This year we are having our usual events plus a race at Spence on Monday. Presentations will either return to the Statesman or be held somewhere else local. Thanks to our sponsors Bentspoke Brewing, Basement Skate, Goliath and Globe.


Special Note - re World Games.
This event will be used to select a team for the World Games in Argentina later this year.
Team selection Criteria are:
(a) results of this event, and
(b) the ability to get to Argentina and compete.

As well as our head to head racing we will set up the ISSA 25 cone Cyber Slalom Course near the run-out area. The course is 25 cones set at 6ft apart, with start/finish boxes 18ft from the first/last cone.

You will have 3 runs in each direction, with the average of your fastest runs being your score, then we reset the course with offsets, and run it again. Points are logged with ISSA.

You will be able to complete your runs during the day, between heats. We will need volunteer timekeepers during the day, but it is very easy to run.
This has been the only international slalom event successfully running during Covid.

Capital Punishment 2022 - National Skateboard Slalom Championship Rules

Because this will be an event qualifying for ISSA and ASRA slalom ranking points, and will be a key to team selection, we need to run with the latest ISSA rules.
