Cant find the actuall article, but found this posted on a forum.
"Skateboarders and rollerbladers will be banned from riding on the streets after dark under new road rules due to come into effect in October.
Under the plan, riders of "wheeled recreation devices" will be banned from all roads with a speed limit of 50km/h or less at all other times.
Those caught breaking the new rules will face a $40 fine.
Trent Fahey, of the Gold Coast, has been skating for 20 years and is the deputy editor of national skateboarding magazine 'Slam'. He said the plan was ridiculous.
"What's worse, going out and doing drugs or a guy that's just skating down the road for no particular reason but to have fun? Its not hurting anyone. A lot of the time people use it as a mode of transport. For those people who want to skate to the skatepark after work, what's the harm in that?"
Transport Minister Rachel Nolan said that, unlike bicycles that can be fitted with lights and reflective gear, people riding skateboards and foot scooters after dark are harder for motorists to see.

So, you're banned when it's dark, and also "at all other times"? Doesn't make sense.
I suspect that what might be happening is that Qld is being brought into the same legislative situation as the rest of the country, which is that skateboarding is legal if all of the following three conditions are true.
1. it's daytime,
2. the speedlimit is 50km/h or less
3. there are no lane markings or median strip.
I'll try and do some research to find out what's really happening.

I think it was on page two, inside column of yesterdays sunday mail, or saturdays courier mail.
My mate was telling we about it.
We have led Arm bans that we picked up from the a camping store at the DFO in brisbane, All the Townsville boys wear them when we ride at night. During the day they are a high vis reflective yellow band, and when you turn them on they are a 'on' or 'flashing' red band.
On our buttboards we where our arm bands, plus we have front and rear, red and white, LED lights like what are on bikes, but they can mount into where your trucks are - like riser plates. We just velcro them to our buttboards so we can stick the rear one on the back to the board, and the front one on our leg leathers facing forward.
If they were not anti-fun, they would have consulted the skate community. If they were pro-safe, they would've done their research and realised there are plenty of light options for bikes that work for scooters and skaters.
Like helmet mounted bike lights, and backpack lights.
If this line is true....

ohno,not mt stuart...to good a hill to lose that,theres no lines on the road is there grits?and what is the speed limit,?the way its lookin for grav sports in oz doesnt sound good,it will continue to stay an underground sport were riders are forced to ride on public roads,for those willing to be outlaws n say fark the authoritys,...what hope is there for acceptance...

Youd think they would embrace forms of transport that didnt use energy. Especially in this day and age.
Healthy activity shut down by people who have nothing better to do but make more rules. They do not look at the big picture, they just want us all to rot in our cubicles and give them money.
If safety from injury is the reason to make something illegal, then cars should not be allowed on the roads, people should not be allowed to swim and no one should be allowed to participate in any form of sport.
Soon they'll just put us in cocoons like the matrix.
Out of control footballers cause more people to be hospitalized than out of control skateboarders.
Hahahaaaaaa :D
Im gonna stick with skating,... I believe everyone has the right to find something they enjoy doing and DO IT. If you dont hurt anyone else, then good for you! ......its your friggin life.... not theirs.

With a $40 fine attached shows how serious they are. It's no biggy most nights out would be at least 40. And it's nite time so use it to make yourself scarce and dissapear into the darkness at any sign of authority.

i wouldnt be worried pete,your laws are now the same as n.s.w,..40 or 50 dollar fine..whats that..fkn joke...cop the fine and enjoy the ride.....take more than that to make everyone sell there thousands of dollars worth of gear we each have and give it away...s.o.d
