OK, it isn't quite live yet, but the ASRA crew plus other volunteers have arrived, and we're busy setting up here at the Scout Camp. Tomorrow we'll be busy with last minute stuff, plus rider check-in which starts at midday.
It's wet, and the forecast is for the rain to continue until Thursday night. After that it should be mostly clear.
There's a lot of wildlife here - possums, deer, bush turkeys, lyrebirds and the most common of all - leeches. This place is seriously crawling with leeches - salt is supposedly the thing to ward them away.
A friendly leech outside our front door
See you all tomorrow at rider check-in.
Good luck to all, show Keira who's boss!!! Please take a moment to remember all our fallen mates. Today in NZ we will be laying our friend James Eising to rest, he'll be keeping watch over all of us.
Ride hard, Race smart, Sk8 Safe!!!!
YEEEEW
no rain on the hill
Thanks Fitz

Wow, positive stuff from the Tele - here's the desktop version:

Only 45 minutes between practice runs, nice and quick. The road is dry wherever the sun has hit it, but still damp in the shade. And there's a lot of shade at Keira.
We'll have finished four practice runs by 12.30pm, and then we'll go straight to qualifying.
Nope, we're gonna squeeze in a 5th practice run and then start qualifiers at 1pm.
As an organiser it feels like we're in the middle of total chaos, but the riders keep saying it's all well-organised and smooth. Ha, it's all a front.
One more thing...for those that know Keira you'll know the last right-left corner...well there's a bit of oil or something on that right, and a lot of people are sliding out there. All good fun!
