ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

hey guys...i've been thinking about grabbing myself some freeride and drift wheels...i'd love to be able to get Hawaii K's....but apart from nostalgia i don't like the price for the performance.

so that leaves me with a few ideas, what's the general consensus:

80-92a Grippins (70mm)
81a Fly's (76mm)
78a powerballs (72mm)
88a Strikers (77mm)
85-95a Gravity super sliders (72mm)
80a O'tangs (75mm)
centreset krypto's...
82a LY Hawgs

guessing the Hawgs and flys/strikers and grippins will get first votes....
grav's apparently are pretty slow...
'tangs- dunno...

thoughts?

ive got some 85a coretechs, nice wheel but ride harder than what i thought and are my slidey drifty wheel at the moment
who has coretechs? seriously, Ozone was the only one i knew of....anyone even know their website address?
its not what you know....lol
i think the run was pretty limited, i think a 75a and an 85a i reckon they would have kicked ass in 80a!!

Adrian gets them when they pop up, only other place I've seen them is http://www.skaterhq.com.au
but they were asking a lot so...
i just sent an email to him...asking if he has anything interesting....
Guys,

if you are talking about the Cortec slalom wheels that look just like the Seismic Avilas (there is a long story there but not for here) then I wish I could find some more of those as the Europeans have been killing it on the ones they got.

I still have a few sets of the longboard Cortecs (known in the trade as Silverbacks) in 60 and 70mm sort of like a refined Striker in better urethane and really nicely slidy.

Tim has closed Cortec (Electric Urethane) down and I have what stock he had left.

Cheers

Sucks to lose Tim.. Any Idea what he's up to?
im really diggin' the hawgz wheels for free-ride/drift wheels... not the new mould but the older 'rounded edges' ive been riding the 78a ones they are really grippy but slide so well, very easy to stand up slide and drift corners extremely fun...

the o-tangs are sick once you break em in and round the edges a bit but untill then i wouldnt recomend trying to pull hectic slides one them coz you will get chucked...

the smaller flywheels are pretty good too but i found they take a bit more to break out into a slide coz they are pretty grippy and they lock up alot quicker but for fast bombin and techy corner drifting they are pretty fun but not too good for standups untill you break em in and get them nice and coned....

Tim is looking for a venture capital backer who will move his gear into Asia and run a factory to Tim's standards (don't like his chances, guy is a perfectionist). Tim can't wotk the machines anymore due to RSI from all the repetitive hand movements involved in the wheel building process.

Very sad loss to the Aussie scene, I just hope someone picks it up and does it properly.

Cheers
