Man, i got stung by a bee once putting cutouts into a deck. It died.

was skating s-bends on a run with a new set of wheels, heelside pre around the hairpin, wheels gripped more than expected, hit the guard rail at bout 50km/hr, crushed part of the lunate bone in my wrist, took me out of skating for 6 months :/

learnt the hard way that new wheels don't slide well haha

was 17, helmet, gloves, knee pads.

World Youth Day Sydney 2008...Friday 18th July, my daughter Brittany rings me at work to say that my wife is staying in Pt Macquarie for the weekend with my other daughter Belle. Conversation goes something like this 'The Pope has his pilgrims everywhere and the streets of Sydney are closed to traffic; wanna go for a skate'. Affirmative was my call and with the blessing of the Police we weaved in and out of pilgims all night...on the way home at about 11pm, skateboarding over the Harbour Bridge heading north I missed seeing a checkerplate cover. Doing maybe 20km/h the 'possessed by demons' skateboard stops instantly at the said checkerplate cover - I continue in an undignified version of simulated flight. All good while in flight but the landing was atrocious. Buggered elbow, knee, lots of skin gone; DNA left on eastern walkway of the Harbour Bridge and have destroyed another pair of flairs. Daughter laughing hysterically - at which time I found that my dignity had joined my DNA, on the walkway of the bridge. Thanks Pope.
double pounts for a well worded story bruiser... hahahah

first time id ever gone over 50km/h on my new board, hit a crack, went head over heals and landed with my arms straight like super man....i had shatterd my wrist in 3 places and an open fracture out of my elbow, dislocated shoulder and broke my middle finger of all things....was in hospital for 2 weeks...

thank the lord for the green whistle...

thats why you wear a helmet.

How do you identify a skateboarder when they are not on a skateboard or in their skateboard clobber? Easy, it's a dead giveaway - scars and healing scabs on the elbows, forearms, knees and shins.....can't hide the skater tattoo's.

Nick, we didn't recognise you during Belle's fund raising door to door in Mosman for the Vinnies Red Shield Appeal, but when you put your arm up there were the obvious skateboarders marks which gave you away.

Badge of honour...worn so proudly after loss of dignity.

Were you wearing an offensive tshirt at the time?....

Had my "jesus saves better zelko kalac" shirt on. One of Blackwoods Complete Radness originals might have been appropriate - though the pilgrims may have conducted a ritual stoning as a result....

Plenty of skin off elbows and knees.....only wear helmet and gloves, no pads.....some minor sprains in ankles and such for stuffed up slides etc....

Have a "fixed" knee. broke it early '09, still gives me trouble when skating. Did it going over handlebars or a bike....

on a funny note, axing my short swallowtail between the legs trying a nose manual, had black and blue thighs from that. Thank god i'm not a guy :P on a serious note, skinning both elbows, knees, left thigh and hip and getting a good head whack on the pavement from speed wobs on a shit board and long steep hill. Luckily there was no concussion or anything. Wasn't wearing any safety equipment both times

10 years of rugby, 6 or 7 crashes on the shoulder and a final face plant at about 70km/h on a downhill run finally destroyed the joint. Ripped my pectoral muscle completely off the shoulder, ground away the bottom half of my rotator cuff, ripped a couple tendons apart requiring 2 screws a bone graft and the cutting and reattaching of my pec as two separate muscles to my shoulder. Needed somebody to drive me home as I couldn't hold the steering wheel. Didn't attend any hospital or doctor as a sore shoulder was always kinda normal to me.

It was bugging me one day at work so i booked an appointment with the specialist which was a 3 month wait. During that time I continued downhill sessions about once a week. Couldn't put my left hand down on the road and needed help getting into my leathers each time but after 10 years of a chronic sore shoulder I didn't think much of it.
