It east announced in public at the presentation by the event organizer that last years event was an OUTLAW event that consisted of an someone going home in an ambulance, and that is apparently what this event was built off...

How ironic
i spent hundreds of bucks to travel to the snowies to race a 90k hill and freeride what i remember to be some of australias raddest hills. What i got was a discustingly rough hill at 60ks and a message that i was not allowed to skate any of the rad mountains i travelled for. Fuck that. Hours of sitting around with no water and no info on what was happening. Skaters were tricked into attending this race for the extra money. If i wasnt broken down on the side of the road i would have been at the outlaw. So would the rest of the radeladians.

Gotta go now, gonna skate guthega... The road i came all this way to ride.
Put aside politics. Whether you support GSE or ASRA or anything in between, there should NEVER EVER be physical assault at ANY event. Regardless of who stages it, particlurly from an organizer. That is the REAL issue here.
i think the real issue here is that this is the best read of ASRA ive had in a while, I've laughed my arse off and i don't know any facts, but i've formed an opinion and i'm not going to share it.

Very Very disapointing weekend.

As a skater and a luger I felt like a lepper not wanted in both camps.

A bit of diplamacy and private discussion on Friday night could of avoided alot of the drama

Lugers lets just keep driving that wedge in. Well brake off soon and can slowly die!

I like most of you guys but would rather Skate with the boys any day

should there be a skate/luge UFC comp as well now?
Dave, I am GSE and A Luger. How did I drive a wedge in today?
The fact is it was Haggy, president of ASRA and IGSA rep in Australia who suggested banning trav, and Tim, the race organizer agreed. Reason, it put the race in jeopardy with local police.
I was in the rider meeting. Hop was
not. Not one person in the room
spoke up in support of Trav. Haggy stood on stage with Tim and Sakamoto, all united in banning Trav.
I am GSE, not one person came to me to discuss this issue. I am more than happy to speak with you in person or on the phone. PM me with your details

that is the most stupid thing i have ever heard!

Yep, good read, piss funny!

Sounds like a top weekend, wish i was there!

bomb the snowies = big shambles?

I have not mentioned any names Sue so dont take this personaly as im sure that "lugers" does not include everyone out there bumming it down the hill but If your that blind that you could not feel the hate developing between the skaters and lugers from the discracefull display on Friday night good luck

I appreciate all the hard work, time, and personal sacrifices that has gone into the organisation of the event, the wish to impress the councel and local authorities, and that this event may be the intro to bigger and better things further up the mountain.

BUT there are some points here you seem to be missing

The surface for skaters was way below standard for any race in my oppinion

the speeds advertised was slightly differant for skaters. (probably just as well with the surface)

Facilities were lacking in some respects with regard to shelter and water.

The amount of time the track was empty with no riding was odd and frustrating.

The display on Friday night should have never happened and if any action needs to be taken against competators it should be done in private behind closed doors and not at a pub.

I have never been worried taking my children to any skate event, but was on Friday night. (different story on the race days)

8 skaters bombed that hill yet the skaters as a whole were alienated

Nasty un nessisary comments from both sides all weekend tainted it for me.

Some fairly stupiud comments were made by lugers and officials at vairiouse times relating to the worth or need of skaters and GSE did not seem to take controle and diffuse the situation.
