Pure Digital 'Ultra HD' is what you want, its a bit bigger then a packet of durries, films 50 fps at 720p, has a screw thread on the bottom so you can mount it on shit annnd is cheap enough that when you crash and its broken you dont want to hang yourself
I have one of these:
http://www.sony.com.au/product/hdr-cx550ve
This is about as good as handycams get. Shoots from an internal solid state drive. Uses the same Exmor sensor as my $4000 camera, uses a very wide G lens, does 10x optical, shoots 12mp stills. Retails at $1400 now but retailed at $1900 when I got it last November. 4 months ago it was the best and most expensive handycam sony offered. Still has Warranty until next November.
Its only been used for 1 day. This is because I only bought it to use it once for a video job, not because there is anything wrong with it. You can have it for $700 if you want it, I still have the box, manuals, disks, receipts. The whole thing is as new
