Thinking of getting new bushings soon, I'm using Venom DHs at the moment, and just was wondering what the aim/type of riding these bushings were developed for. The DHs are super-stable, are the elims just another DH bushing? ie:what differences in riding is there between the two? And what does the stepped design try to achieve?

Cheers for any responses.

Cheers guys, I'm thinking Venom DH SHR 88a (light green) all round, coz they're in the middle of my current reg thane Venom DH 90a (red, boardside) and 85a (yellow, roadside). Bushing are too choicy, I'm sure I'll be happy with my decisions. I could waste time and money trying heaps of diff ones, or just get used to a set and thrash them.
I am after eliminators as well. Don't know them much. Give me the point to start buying first sets. I am 63 kgs. Which duro should I start for DH?
for lightweights, eliminators are very restrictive (from my experience with them anyway). stick to venom barrrels dude. Green and/or Red are my favs.
Eliminators were designed to eliminate wheel bite. They offer a lot of resistance in turning. The trucks sort of get to a point and then stop. I have used the orange elims and they're not too bad because they're so soft. But you will get more turn from barrels.
What weight are you? I would like to mix them up with barrels. But most ppl put eliminators on board side and barrels on road side. Why is that? The way they like?

Everyone's different.

Maybe start around the purple colour, 87a or so. Non SHR, I don't know how good SHR are but I haven't seen any pros using them...

Do they have to go on board side? If I want to mix around with barrels.

they can go either side. But usually they are used on the boardside.

They are also useful for trucks with a spherical bearing in the hanger, as the venom eliminators have an indent in one side to allow the bearing to move freely

That mean dished side always has to face to the hanger. Correct me please.

Do they feel harder than the barrel ones with the same hardness?

yep. dished side faces the hanger, but that is more important for trucks with a spherical, it wouldn't matter much otherwise, except that the flat side will go better on the washer.

And they do feel a little harder than a barrel in the same duro. Sort of like how a cone feels softer than a barrel in the same duro.

thats because its a fatter bushing, meaning it takes far more pressure to get them to turn. that is why they don't suit light fellas.

i weigh 68kgs and i run red venom barrels and they are on super responsive trucks (aeras). from what i know you have munkaes and kahas which are both pretty restrictive trucks (response wise), so more restrictive bushings under your 63kg weight is going to be pretty good for nothing but bombing straight hills (you will be able to turn of course, but remember loose, responsive trucks save lives. plus its no fun if its hard to carve).

but test some of the softer ones (as i haven't got experience on them) and if you don't like them you can all ways easily sell them.

Usually, I set up the downhill bushings with Red and Green barrels. Wanna give a try of eliminators. Maybe it has to be Red barrel on road side and Yellow eliminators on board side. What do you think?
