Just for the Groms who dont seem to see the need to wear helmets, I am interested in people answering the following (I would like to make it a poll, but that doesnt seem to be an option).

Please choose from:

  • I never wear a helmet and have never hit my head
  • I never wear a helmet and have hit my head
  • I always wear a helmet and have never had a use for it
  • I always wear a helmet and It has saved me
  • I always wear a helmet and It has saved my life

18 months ago my answer would have been:

I never wear a helmet and have hit my head.

After the above, I started wearing a helmet...

Now my answer is:

I always wear a helmet and it has saved my life.

Yep, I headed the warning and it saved my life 6 months later.

i wear a helmet. period

i have seen my half lid leave a massive yellow streak on the curb, and i know that had i been without a helmet, that would be blood and brain tissue.

go on coastlongboarding.com and see the pro-helmet adds on there.

i wear a bmx helmet 98% of the time and if i had not been wearing it then i could at least have at least suffered ALOT of pain... <3 my helmet

why did someone have to mention helmets on a psychotically pro helmet forum?

most people started skating without helmets and now most people now wear them pretty much all of the time.... move on.

More of a concern nower days i think is people bombing hills in soft foam half lids....thanks to OS vids it seems to be the latest trend to downhill in a half lid....

I've done a DH run once in my half lid and felt far sketchier / unsafer doing that compared to having a roll at a skatepark without a lid (not that i do that anymore)..

helmets are cool , spoon feeding a mate with brain injury is cool too but the "novelty" of being there all the time to help soon wears off and the poor bastard is left alone . if only he had his helmet on that test run ....I am talking about when I raced on the NZ GP motor racing circuit a few years back now . now Josh and I skate and we feel more ready and confident for the hill when we put on our full face . just feels right doesn't it ?

I always wear a lid, When Im cruising to the shops and doing freeride/dh, I havent hit my head yet and I dont plan to

I always wear a helmet and It has saved me

I always wear a helmet (exept when im just hanging ten) and have never had a use for it.

I always wear a helmet, and it has saved me, both in a full face and skid lid.

For BJ: Triple 8 Brainsaver and Bell Drop.

It's just like not wearing a seat belt in a car, u just don't feel right unless ur wearing it

I agree with that, I feel much much safer in my full face for anything of a decent speed

You know what they say, 'Prevention is the best treatment'.
