All helmets give you 180 view but thats not the one that matters. With your head pointed down to the ground its all about the top to bottom view. Note the difference here:

I understand what you mean now...
with the charly helmets.. do they have a chin that sticks out? if so i would say its very similar to my rjays avenger
Unlike a bird with eyes on the side of its head, the general maximum field of view (span) for a human in 120 degrees which is mostly peripheral. The field of view that a human can focus on at a resolution sufficient to read words is about 6 degrees (the width of about 5 words).

But wouldn't anything over 180 mean that you could see stuff that is behind you?

I'm pretty sure a human has just under 180 degrees field of vision
edit: Oops, what I just wrote in this comment got mentioned while I was typing it
hmmm.. maybe i over done the numbers.. i still maintain i can see more then 120 degrees, that range seems too small. you imagine standing at the pitch on a base ball ground. you can see the whole 90 degrees in front of you which is the inground plus you can see pretty much everything to the side.

Havent skated in it just yet, its been mega hot,
You can see like normal looking up,and pretty muchall the way down, probs 80-90%
The nose kinda sticks out but i can tilt my head and what not if i need more viewing. I dont understand that need to look down too much, you always look at whats in front of you afew metres and calculate what your gonna do not hwen its just about under you :P
The chin don't stick out at all. That image is of the helmet tilted back. the way its worn is with the visor pointed 90 degrees to the rd

When you are contemplating vision span imagine standing with your head straight so you only move your eyes. Look as far to the left as you can while focusing on a point now do the same to right, that is 120 degrees. You need to try to focus on something close to you. If you look at something in the distance you get a bending of light effect which is inaccurate this is because your eyeball is round, similar to adding a fisheye cap to a normal lens
