Sweet, ill be in to get some gator and hardware sometime in the holidays
Hemley's....
Great people, decent range of gear, doing abit for melbourne skate sceane, however they are a shop, they make money by selling stuff, pretty obvious....
Sean its cool that your trying to encourage people to go to them but dont forget the fact that there doing what there doing for commertal purpuse's. We all know how fast longboarding is growing, in the last year it has dam near doubled in popularaty, Hemleys are just smart, there monthly sesh's cost bugger all but get them massive coverage, for a couple of prizes...
the last sesh it was just that, some pizza, a couple drinks and some prizes. now dont get me wrong, this is awsome, but there actul involvment in the last one was a bit dissapointing. the runing of the event was left up to sean, and then my brother (who doesnt really have much to do with skating) none of the guys even came out.... the fact that none of the enploye's have much of an intrest in our sport distance's them, also a lack of knowlage about longboarding let's them down as a shop.

i like hemley, and i do buy stuff from them, but people have to realize what they are and there modivation to invole themselfs with us as a marketing tool...

so thanks to hemley for bringing in some decent gear to melbourne, and i hope it goes out just as fast.
but please realize that we need support, knowlage and proper events (that you are actully involed in!!), not just grub and prizes!
you guys have a shop that will stock gear that doesn't suck and cost $400 for a urban skater stock complete...

be grateful- support those that support you/your scene.

having said that, yes they are in it to make money....its...a shop.

support them, sure- but unless someone working at that shop is an active member of the LB community... i find it hard to believe that their intentions are completely noble...then again, maybe i'm being a bit wishful...
sean, awsomely reasonable,
my point is that while im sure you dont mind, and nor would most of us, working your ass off to get thease things going, Hemley dont seem to be... id just like to see a little more involvment is all...

BTW ill have my licence in a couple of week's so should be out to a shitload more sesh's and while i can only drive one person (legaly) id like to find some decent hills...
sorry for retracting my post, i just did not think its appropiate to be discussing this in such a public mannor, again its personal here.

Jimmy and feilex are top guys they have been involved with skateboarding for a long time and are both good guys who want to see all forms of skateboarding grow, its what their shop is about, if they where in it for the soul purpose of money they wouldnt do jack.

Callum i will speak to you at some stage tomorrow, you do make a few really good points and ultimatly we are trying to work out a way for hemleys to grow to a point where we can run events at places like arthours seat, but its going to take time, i want to compete myself but right now i am sitting out contests so we can grow them
cool, ill have a chat with you tommorow about it, happy to give up some time to help out...

i got new bushings.
I agree with callum! The events are pretty disorganized but what do you expect when you have a ton of groms who don't like listening to "authorithy"? Really for any event there has to be a few guys who have to take charge even if its me sacrficing their own skate time.

Yeah hemleys consist of street skaters but that's why jimmy needs a core group of longboarders he can rely on to run these sessions.

That being said they've done a whole lot for the scene in the past year and have gotten in so much gear its finally good to see a local shop supporting the scene.
The core group of guys is something we are working on, If alex hadnt of broken his femur then i dont think there would be much of an issue for this coming one. Its a work in prgress this entire thing but when it comes down to it, these sunday rides are never going to be much
