i kind of want to gauge how fast im going when i do stuff. im really confused because i go on sites like the fish (obviously not the most reliable source but still) and people are like, yeah i hit 35 on my s9 going down some hill in my neighbourhood the other day, then i convert that too km/h and its like 55. so i know its not an important factor in longboarding when your just having fun or practicing but i still want to know. anyway, to gauge how fast people go could people please guesstimate or tell me how fast:

people were going at ashleys birthday bash on sunday (great event by the way)
kyle chin is going in the let go video
you need to be going to do a pendy without coming to a stop (i know this one is kind of shaky as it depends on weight but the other two are pretty good gauges i think)

if all this stuff is confusing and you have some other way of telling me how to gauge speed, beside getting a parent to drive behind me in a car (they would just decide they needed to restrict the speed i went), im open to that aswell.

thanks all.

if you have an iphone or somthin u could use the gps in it
lol. thats the best idea ever, way easier than all my crap about gauging :P

haha thanks.
Time Bro you just need time.
Time over distance = speed.... Doesn't it?

Or get a gps (I wouldn't trust an I phone gps)

Or I'm pretty sure that there is a way to measure speed using your video camera. You have to have a side shot and you use the fps somehow, not really sure about that one.
Nokia with inbuilt GPS. Tape really hard to your wrist/glove. Have fun, and don't crash lol.
I picked up a cheap nav man, added velcro to the back of the gps and the baseplate of the front truck (on a drop through) and bam! you can see how fast you are going, and if you are commuting, you can turn the volume up and it tells you what street to turn into hahaha

You can also bring up the stats after your run, like top speed, average speed, distance travelled, time spent standing still etc.

Iphone works ok too, but they are worth considerably more, so it matters more if it gets smashed to smithereens.
sweet
yer iphone gps are alright but not like spot on. youd be better off with that than doin it just by guessing though. We usually just say how fast we think it was give or take about 5 km/h and we usually get it right.
yeah jay, im not sure how fast anything is though, thats what i meant by gauging. like if someone said: oh at buderim people were hitting about 40km/h i would be able to reference against that when juding myself. but ill try the iphone thing and see how it goes.
yer once you use a gps or somthin for a while youll learn like how fast it feels wen ur doin like 50 or somthin so wen your doin 55 youll have a rough idea.
stick your head out the window of your car at the speed you think your going and if the wind velocity feels the same then look at the speedo...
and its normal to sit in your car and look out the window in your fullface.

why didnt you come skate pie and kiera with us your sissy.... ;)
