Im 43 :)
Yeah I grew up skateboarding the hills in Seaview Downs Adelaide, I think I was still into it until the late 70s, but I never went anywhere near a pool or ramp.
Ive been doing this for a little over four years and Im nowhere near as good as some (most) of the guys here on the site, (especially including these younger guys, they are fearless). But Ive got to say, I love a board with cut outs. I had a cheap surf shop topmount for a while, then I got a top mount Arbor,... (similar to the shape of the Vault, a pintail). But the board that was a whole different world was a drop through with cutouts. Thats when I really fell in love with longboarding.
A lowered deck makes braking and kicking along much easier, plus you dont get wheelbite as easy as if you were riding a top mount.
So what they are saying about the Dervish is a good choice,.. especially since you like flex. But there are a ton of other choices including a few Aussie ones too. :)
45 and still skate .. not as much as I would like but can t find the time or energy at the moment. one needs the combination to have a good ride. anyhow Im selling off a few things decks ,wheels trucks, leathers . got stuff I dont use much and someone else might find a better use for them gather than the spiders .
so depending on your bugit I could set you up with a sweet ride.
contact me if interested. eg preloved evo deck $75 new and used Kookys $150- 400
2nd Rayne deck . 180 randals etc..
lots of stuff.
Colin, yep I'm well over 40 and still skating. I recently hung up the Saurus and got a Loaded Dervish from the HopShop and just love it. Gullwing Charger 10 inch trucks; Orangutangs and this thing turns and street surfs like nothing else. If you get the chance get to St Leonards and check out Hopkin Skate and try some of their boards. As I said I love the Dervish and now have my eyes on the Rayne Demonseed.
Hi Bruiser,
Mate if you still have that Saurus can i suggest you get on to www.charliedontskate.com website and announce that... and watch how many instant friends you have and how many private messages suggesting ridiculous amounts of money will start flowing into your in box. There has been none of them to my knowledge found still in existence.Charlie dont skate is an aussie old school site and there was a bit of a search on to find a remaining saurus. Mr Hill himself visits the site as well as Old School Ritchie who has made a Saurus reproduction in recent years.
