ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

hey guys

here is a little something i've been working on, i was hoping to get it into skate shops that support our sports, as you can see there are a few blank spots on the A3 poster, these are for the stores logo and info and what ever else they would like there.

it would be awesome to get it into some stores if hop or any others are keen to have it, message me and let me know.

hope you don't mind i used your image Jacko, your just such a sexy man lol ;)

PEACE!

I might be a bit bias, but I like it.
Good concept Daz, trying to make people more aware.

one problem you might cross is putting this in skate / surfshops that don't sell downhill equipment, you'll have to try spin it so there's something for them to gain from it...
also you should try couple it with a video to be played in shops (sure that idea has come up before) but now its more a package deal for them..
at the same time though, you don't want to put out the impression that we are rekless daredevils, cause that will taint the sports public image... but I agree that it is a little too flamboyant for most people.

Personally..

I feel that if you put a poster like this up in any skate shops all we will be looked upon as are fags and homo's...
It's pink.. with a floral pattern...

Good idea. But I'm not too keen on the design..
I think its great design. Well done Daz.
why are fragipanis on the poster?
:( Pink ????
haha pink!, flamboyant!, and well, bigotry :S...........the reason i did it like this, was to break the mould and conceptions people have about us and our spots, basically there's nothing pretty about bombing a hill and pissing people off, well, lets show them it actually is pretty ;) in a cool way, were not nuts, we plan, we work together.

it's not about the colour, it's about the action, the poster is just to get attention, made you guy look right!? lol, everyday i see the same style posters, the same style of clip. the same everything for the last 13yrs, thought we'd try something a little new and fresh for a change :) i looked at how quicksilver, billabong and ripcurl do their marketing with posters and images and i have adopted that same idea.

either way guys i enjoy the feedback, keep it coming, specially the constructive type ;) it will help with future work.

funny you mention the clip trav, i'm actually working on getting something together for store with a poster as i type :D

PEACE!

ONLY REAL MEN CAN WEAR PINK!!!!
lol i think it takes courage...and those that are going to judge downhillers and call them gay simply by a poster are not worth having in the first place......rock on daz!!!!
long live flower power!!!
i think you should change it to "want to get into LONGBOARDING?"
downhill pretty much stems off from longboarding these days. If you encourage dudes to start riding longboards then the progression to bigger hills and faster speeds is natural...

Its hard to ask someone to start off skating in leathers and tuck down a hill... You need to get people into just general longboarding and cruising first and then make that next step. But i like the idea, and i actually like the layout (including the pink) as its very catchy.

Another thing is if you put up a poster saying "get into downhill" people might ask "what about downhill mountain biking? what about downhill speed skiing? what about downhill mountain boarding?" those are all sorts of downhill so its hard to really separate ourselves from them when we call ourselves "downhillers" as we all essentially go downhill.

Encouraging people to just skate longboards is what we need to do. From there they can find out if they want to start bombing some bigger and gnarlier hills or even if they want to sit/lie down on their boards.

thats my two cents
dam jacko!......that's some good insight dude, now that's feed back i can use hehe.

what i'll do, is make another version with the longboarding caption mate, and see how we go there, i think you have addressed some relevant issues dude :) Oh! and thank's for not minding the pink ;) or the fact i used your image before i asked ya hehe.

PEACE!

yeah i really tried hard not to discriminate between sleds and skates but in all honesty the way things are these days skates are #1... to bring new people in racing downhill they need to be aware of the longboarding scene, and its not hard to then get into sleds after that if standing up is too hectic. Its just the way the cookie crumbles in this day and age
TRY HARDER!!!!!
seriously dude, we all know you aren't a fan of luges - how about just putting personal baggage aside and trying to do something for the greater good without polluting this forum any more?!
