i actually busted out my old slide board on the weekend. i used to do a lot of hard wheel sliding back in the day before i really got into downhill and stuff. it actually helped me a lot to learn how to downhill, as i was already comfortable with sliding and getting close to the ground and what not... far out though it felt so different sliding on hard wheels, stand ups were easy as piss, but it felt weird getting on the ground and busting out spins again...
anyway, im sure most people have seen this video but this is something that i put together back in the day when we used to do a lot of sliding and such:

yeah, i am really keen to get a hard wheel slide comp going, i just want to see if there is interest in the style of riding and who is doing it
you would have to mix it up with hard/soft wheels... you cant just lump it into one catagory...

danger bay slide comp was a mixture, but as a competition goes you are more likely to win with the hard wheels as there are more tricks to do, but if you have lots of style and can bust some good moves on soft wheels then there you go...

sliding is sliding weather its hard or soft wheels, long board or short
yeah defs jacko, its going to have to be that sort of format, i spoke to a few of the guys i know at the YMCA this arvo and they are keen to get onboard with a comp, starting to set the wheels in motion and start talking to them about it in the coming weeks about getting it off the ground, they are defs the people to talk to, their shop at riverside is stocking longboard gear too which is a good too so they said they might be able to put up a set of trucks and some wheels for prizes which is good
I wanna get in to hard wheel sliding but cant afford a new setup need leathers first :(
you can get a basic hard wheel setup for very little if you shop around, you can pick up a alright deck at your local skateshop for 60-80 dollars, some wheels for around 40-50 dollars and you can use any trucks you want really so long as they are wideish and kind of stable, my slide setup right now is a blunt popsicle deck, some film trucks (generic cheap brand) and some alva wheels which i payed 50 for, bearings with sliding are personal preference though you want something tough and thats going to spin well when you slide.
