ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Beat The Bastard from Jackson Shapiera on Vimeo.

Beat the Bastard was held in Townsville, QLD Australia. It was the first Free Ride event ever to be held in Australia, and was also the first Gravity event to be a charity. They were raising money to beat the bastard, prostate cancer.
The event also included the 2nd round of the Cone Head Cup, and was a gnarly SuperG course that was around 60km/h and through hectic bends.
It was truly an epic event. DVD coming soon...

Lance, the dvd which is being produced about "BtB" will go along way to boost Gravity Sports in Oz. There are plans in the works at the moment to get as much coverage as we can for Gravity Sports, especially with the Worlds being held in November here in Australia. Australia has brilliant talent in all gravity disciplines, as we all witnessed at "BtB", and the other aspect is Australia also has some of the best manufacturers of DH's, Luges and Classics, as well as retailers who totally support us and go out of their way to get the best equipment money can buy for us, the riders, without ripping us off. Marketing has always been a tricky issue with Gravity Sports, both here and across the World, but we have a solid base to work from, from World class racers and free riders, to ASRA as well as retailers and people like the Townsville crew who are getting involved to get us out there to the public, by staging events/free rides like "Beat the Bastard". Also, don't forget the "Conehead Cup" series.
This is just a thought being put out there for discussion, good or bad: Would it be worthwhile ASRA having a "Media Officer", someone who authorities/media could deal with to get "correct" imformation over issues which may arise, as well as being in a position to promote Gravity Sports in various media streams and use this netwoking to try and get sponsors onboard for events/free rides. Basically someone to support the ASRA committee in this area.
Just my two cents, guys.......thinking out loud.

that was so exciting to watch there must be a sports marketing company who would benefit from being associated with our group...and if we get to that point whats our next move....when was the last comunication with red bull , no fear etc etc , maybe we need to set a hit squad up....who has a marketing / promotions background etc etc
we need to explore this guys and we need the top group of male , youth and female skaters all represented...ideas ????
