Announcement: ASRA Rider Rego System

ASRA is proud to unveil our new rider rego system. If you're organising a race you can use this system to register riders and collect their rego fees prior to your race. It's free, it's easy, and it takes away one of the big headaches of organising a race.

So what is it exactly? If you're organising a race, ASRA will create a Rider Registration Form especially for your event. Riders will have to use this form to register and pay prior to attending the race. You'll get the payments in your bank account, and you'll have access to the rider list to know exactly who is and isn't coming.

How will the rider rego system help me?

  • No more chasing riders for rego money. Riders must pay in order to register, and you'll have the money in the bank well in advance of your race, allowing you to cover your costs, and saving you from the worry of people saying they will come but then not showing up..
  • A live rider list that can be linked to from your event page means that riders will know for sure whether they've registered. No more PMs and emails by riders asking "did you get my event rego?" or saying "I swear I sent it last week". If they are not on the list than they did not rego and pay.
  • The detailed and up-to-date rider list gives you info about the field, eg. how many juniors, emergency contact info, number of interstate riders etc.
  • No worrying about being swamped by massive numbers of riders on the day - you can limit the number of riders in advance.
  • Priority rego systems can be used to ensure the top riders have access to popular events.

I'm organising an event and I want this. What do I need to give ASRA?

  • The name of your event
  • Email address for your PayPal account.
  • Email address for us to forward the rego submissions and detailed rider list information to.
  • Event entry cost (if applicable)
  • List of disciplines (if applicable)
  • Total rider limit (if applicable)
  • Rego start date

Can all events have this?

To qualify for this service:

If you have an upcoming event contact Robbo or Bugs with the details and ASRA will do the rego grunt work so you can spend more time putting on a RAD event.

Re: Note on Help Page

"Event Insurance

All legitimate events require public liability insurance and ASRA is happy to help in this area."

How many events per year can ASRA insure?

How much does insurance cost?

If ASRA exceeds the limit of events can it buy more insurance?

How is the cost of insurance charged to the race organiser on a per rider or per event basis?

Is the insurance policy suitable for events at places leased to event organisers, like Mt Stromlo?

Will event organisers need to obtain a signed indemnity from competitors, in order for ASRA insurance to be valid?

Is insurance dependant on organisers adhering to standard safety procedures, ie course preparation, first aid, traffic control, rider safety gear, and riders using safe equipment, and do you have a documented set of procedures?

Is insurance cover available to organisers of Outlaw events?

And does the registration system expose ASRA to liability from uninsurable events?

If those questions were numbered,

1. Not sure, Haggy has the details. It's less than 10.

2. Again, Haggy has the details. Less than $1000 per event. When we've onsold it we've usually done so at a loss.

3. Not sure, but we've never gone close to the limit.

4. Per event.

5. Yes.

6. It's public liability insurance, which covers race organisers from claims made by members of the public who may get injured because of the race. It doesn't cover anybody against claims made by competitors, so what competitors sign isn't relevant.

7. The only relevant thing for this purpose is the safety of the public, not the safety of the competitors, so most of these concerns are misplaced, with the obvious exception of traffic control.

8. No.

9. I don't think so.

G'day Bugs,

Dave has asked me to organise the Canberra slalom event, Robbo made some comments over at charlie and I joined the dots and I see this new system of rider registration.

I'd assume that people have to have an ASRA license to race? This covers their competitor insurance right? It looks like there is no day licence option?

Cheers,
Scotty.

Bugs, how do we send results to you?

And what format do you prefer, excel or csv?

Scotty, being an ASRA member has no impact on insurance. The riders are never insured at these events - the insurance covers the organisers from claims made by random members of the public who might get injured because of the race - an unlikely occurrence.

Bernie, either XLS or CSV or ODS is fine.

I've talked to Haggy and sent the booking request. 3 December is (tentative, will see what the venue says) Conehead Cup Canberra and 4 December is the Teeth of Terror :) I will set up this thing for entries if all goes good.
