i agree wit Rob.
the fact is we will never legally be allowed on public roads without road closure. why? because if we did have the same rights as a motor vehicle/cyclist it would mean anyone can skate on a road no matter where their level of riding is at, which in most cases of downhill (learning groms) just won't work.

sounds great to get accepted as a legit road user but at the moment we are in a pretty good situation. Up untill the boys down south being arrested we could be caught for riding any hill any where and at most cop a small fine. If we move in to a legit road user the fins and punishments could move substancialy against us. I like the idea of riding the law in the grey area and cops not quite knowing what to do. Its here to be discussed and would be good to hear what others think too. Peace

I really want to get together a proposal which we can put forward to legal bodies (eg. Vicroads) to have skateboarders legal rights clearly defined and also set rules and regulations regarding road use, safety equipment etc. defined and legislated. If we spend time on it to ensure it is accurate, detailed and sensible, we may have a chance to pursuade these bodies into accepting skateboarders as legitimate road users rather than just recreational vehicles. Please join the group if you can help out at all with legal perspective, proposal writing etc.
