Foam???

Hey guys, just wondering where you get your foam from?

I've tried ordering it through Bunnings but they want $120 per sheet delivery to their store which makes it approx $180 per 2400x600x50 sheet. With the amount of time I've spent trying to get a hold of this stuff I could have just built a wooden mold but I really want to try foam.

Any help would be great.

I didn't even see that. oops.

I've tried contacting them through email a few times but there's been no reply. I can put an order thru bunnings & pick up from there but it's still a 4hr round trip, It may be the only option

James where are you located? i live in sydney and i got all my foam from out west at a place called Ausbuild that sell foamular products: its like a really stiff foam and comes in like 600x 100 x 2400 for like $80 each, i use that for vaccum molding and works great

I'm on the NSW/QLD border. That's the stuff I've been looking at, its sold through a company called Austech, they aren't replying to my emails but im able to order through Bunnings. I may have to give them a call & see what they can do. I'm unable to find anywhere else that stocks it or even anything similar.

I've been googling around & was wondering if anybody knows about surfboard foam? Is it useable?

Surfboard foam will depend on what resin you use. Epoxy resin is generally safe with almost all foams. Polyester resin will completely melt styrene based foam down to a pile of goop.

Try finding a Dow Styrofoam distributor near you. They supply insulation foam for the builing industry. Its typically blue coloured and alot cheaper than FGI's composite foam.
