Wheelbase is measured from center of axle to center of axle. If a deck doesn't have trucks attached but has boltholes predrilled, I generally take the measurement from the center of the baseplate, the middle of the boltholes. Truck angles will vary the "actual" measurement slightly, but not much. Hope this is of some help Brad.
Cheers.
The usual system is that wheelbases are measured between the front and rear inner boltholes of the deck. This doesn't actually measure the "true" wheelbase because that will differ depending on what trucks are on the board, and if there is any truck wedging, and if the board flexes, and the weight of the rider etc etc.

But that's exactly why it's done this way - you can give a measurement that is consistent for a particular deck, regardless of the trucks and all other variables.
Thanks Bugs,
Question answered nicely, now its time to compare wheelbases.

Some companies express wheelbase axle to axle, however 90% these days use inner to inner deckbolts. You gotta use some heads up thinking and look at the image of the board aswell so that there's no confusion.

Most 40" decks when dropped thru are around 31" wb inner to inner. It's almost impossible to squeeze any more out unless you have a split nose and/or tail.
Oldskool deck bolts are 2-1/2" long. So 2 of them equals 5" leaving about 2" past that either end of the baseplate.

So for example if you see a board thats 40" dropthru with 33" wb like Neversummer advertised, you know its axle to axle.

You can always scale the image aswell.
Fitzy are the landyatzhs measured with a flexible tape along the contours or with a hard ruler type. Just that alone would throw dek lenthgs out heaps. Like the dif in distance driving or how crows fly.

You know I never thought of that one K-man.
I don't own a Landy however my Demonseed is lowered and is measured 35" inner to inner as the crow flies.
