Triple 8 vs Pro-Tec
Hey guys,
I've been looking for a new helmet lately, I figured now that i'm starting too go a bit faster and actually trying 4 wheel slides as compared too little 180's my old K-mart helmet doesn't really cut it.
By what I've seen on Hopkin 888 and Pro-tec seem too be the two leading brands, my bro and a few of his friends all have 888's sweat saver's and they seem to think that they're way better, I was going to get one of them but I noticed boardshops having a sale and a few Pro-Tec helmet's are marked down by up too $20-30, what would you guys suggest?

If you are getting a soft foam one i advise you get the triple 8 soft foam. The protec buckey lasek (soft foam) tend to flex alot more. They also have a much softer foam, as where the triple 8 tends to have a somewhat more dense foam. Although i do advise that if you are going fast that you get a hard "esky" style foam lid or a fullface if you think you require it,

Yeh, most of you guys seem too support 888 over Pro-Tec is that because 888 are cheaper or because as I said Boardshop was selling Pro-Tec's majorly marked down atm.

If its a hard foam pro-tec then go nuts. Otherwise i'd steer clear.

X rated do BOTH american standard approved with the foam , and a NON standard with the soft foam !!

888 unless u can get the protech wakeboard helmet soooo good helemts soak up sweat ...wake board ones dont they have a way better insert thats water proof

TSG is another option. Mine is pretty solid - hard and soft foam liners. Whatever you get, make sure it can't slip back on your head easily and leave the front of your skull exposed.

whatever you do, get HARD FOAM. soft foam helmets aren't rated as they aren't able to take the hard hits you would have on a bike. they are designed for the skatepark, not for what we do.
in an impact soft foam compresses very easily and quickly to a hard super thin layer of foam and therefore doesn't absorb any of the impact.
the hard foam acts as a second skull and will actually crack, absorbing the force of the impact.
