Starfire Jumboo II and S&S sky sigma....anyone know what these trucks are?

Spotted  this in a council pickup pill about a year and a half ago....anyone know what these trucks are, there looking kinda retro.....are they old junk or what?

The deck is a cracked piece of ply...dont think ill be keeping that. the block on the back say "POWER PIVOT Mk II" on it...new ones worth 5.99 pounds on uk ebay ha

Are these something you would use on a slalom board? there 100mm wide

Might get a deck and some new bushings, wheels etc and use it for a bit of fun

Ahem...
the trucks in your picture are vintage. But they are vintage ripoffs of ACS trucks. Still, with a bit of a revamp they will work just fine. Yes they will be good for slalom, but the flaw in the design is the kinpin, which will undo itself as you skate, so watch out for that.

the wheels look a unbranded copy of Universal Big Grabbers, do they have loose ball bearings in them? or standard 608 'precise' bearings?
The deck looks like a copy of the Hobie Parkrider, with a lot of extras added.
The risers should have 'USA' written on one of the short sides, and have a crazy drill pattern, those were fit as standard to alot of skateboards sold in England in the late 70s early 80s.
You may struggle to find replacement pivot cups for those trucks, if you want some, let me know. I know a collector in England that has a stash. Bushing wise, you wont have a problem in this age with its multitude of quality bushing makers.
Have fun sorting that lot out, The ACS and its copies were insanely turny trucks

thanks for the reply. well the kingpin has a lock-nut which in theory was probably suppose to hold the kingpin in but yeah ill be keeping an eye on it.

The bearing are a 608-z jap bearing, that's about all i can make out on the rusty old things. the risers just say "tracker trucks" on them.

Yeah getting pivot cups was my main concern especially cause there 2 different sizes, if all else fails I can probs get some made at a local engineering place. Are they just Nylon? But yeah could you find out if he has any? Yeah already tried some old bushings, thats the easy bit.

Hey Mike,

I've in the process of resurrecting the skatie I rode when I was a kid, the only component I'm missing are the pivot cups for my Sky & Sigma trucks. I'm keen to know more about your collector mate in the UK (if you wanna pass his details on)?

You guys should be able to get pivot cups to suit from anywhere that sells/services roller skates (Quads) they come in a heap of sizes and what were used by the early skateboard truck builders. i am always fixing old trucks out of my roller skate parts.

Cheers Adrian...sorted em out with some fuel hose but ill try find a roller skate place and see if i can get something a little better there

Check your local skating rink for their pro shop

I also have some starfires I picked up on an ebay complete.  Yes they're turny and you could use them as a slalom truck but they're not particularly precise.  Also I have stopped using them because one of them snapped in half while I was skating the Bulleen snake run causing me to unexpectedly eat shit.  I think they're very cheap sand cast alloy.

I have set you up on charlie. (We get about 1000 spammers a day trying to register so it's hard to filter out the crap from the real)
