ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

The spherical bearing in my front Splitfire slalom truck is binding or at least not moving freely as it should. I've tried cleaning and lubing it but no good.

Any ideas for freeing it up or do I just need to replace it. Where can I get a replacement. Can I just bash it out with a suitable drift?

Clean, lube, and then stick a low speed drill in it to get it moving again?

I admit I don't know what I'm talking about, but it sounds like it might work, or at least be a dramatic failure of some sort...
Hi Mark,
Is it the hanger or pivot? do they have both?

Options,
Just hand it over to me on the weekend I'll look after it...................YEH BABY
or
try what Bug's suggested
and
look inside the outer race see if ther's a lubrication channel (prob isn't) but if there is make sure thats clean,
the inner ball prob doesnt have a lube channel but check that as well.
The sphericals i fit to pivots get "worn in" and start to bind a bit, even tho they are self lubricated,
i thinks its the constant load in that constant 20* arc that does it.
So every so often i pull the hanger off and rotate the inner ball 180* verticaly? so the "faces" are now in reverse
of what they were, again it may seem a bit tight at the start, but loosens up and the trucks are still workin.
Wayne.
ps.Did you ever find the scooter?
They are not available in Aus. so I don't advise you damage it or even try to remove it.
If you still have trouble after this weekend I can take a look and return it to you after I finish tafe in the city at night.
Don't use any powertools on it. Just needs some TLC.
As always the men of ASRA come through.

I knew you'd be along here soon enough Fitz but I am an impatient bastard and I was out of options for this weekend anyhow, so i'm ashamed to say i took to it with a drill.

But I guess I got lucky as after about 10min with the drill and lots of oil lubricaton it has loosened up to like new performance. I recon this really just helped clean it out as alot of black muck came out.

Thanks for all the advice and I'm good to go for the BMB final conehead race. I will however still be running a rear RTS as my Virage order still hasn't turned up. Does it really take more than 2 weeks to ship from the UK?

No Wayne never did get that scooter back, had a pair of now had to get cosmo in line wheels on it too. Will be great to see the Bear in the mountains!
Great news!
Bugs comes through with the goods.

Some need a good power tooling with lotsa lube before they concede. Some just need TLC.
Spherical bearing are similar also...................

Cya's this weekend!
