Is there any other purpouse for skins other than for wearing under leathers when it comes to skating? I just noticed pictures and was at the outlaw and people seemed to be wearing them for slalom and just sliding. Is there any purpouse in that or are they just wearing them in case they wanna put on some leathers?

they feel good. expensive though. i got reebok ones at a factory out let in sydney $20 long sleeve and $20 long tights. skins are Hundreds.look at alternatives.
welll yeah our school shouts all open rowers a set of the leg ones and the upper body ones full sleeve so i figured id put them to good use in the off season.

They help you get your leathers off and on. They stop you getting sunburnt. I'm skeptical of all the medical reasons for wearing them, but you never know. I use a shitty old rashy that needs to be replaced.
okay because of the compression they can actually improve muscle recovery time, helping the micro tears heal quicker (very good as long as you are stretching after a session to make sure the fibres are mending flat not corrugated and forming scar tissue) I'll stop now as a sports therapist I would go on all night. In short yes they are good, bloody expensive just because they have "skins" written on them and yes search out cheaper alternatives.
conor ur an open rower?
dayum what a waste of time that is
haha jks
what about guy wearing them for slalom is that just muscle recovery as well
cant be funn falling off like that
aych, so would thermal tights also serve the same purpose? theyre not the same material but are pretty tight fitting.

Erm yeah, part of the history of all this was in the UK it was noticed by a ladies tights company that larger women were wearing more tights in the winter than smaller women; noticed due to an increase in sales. On closer investigation builders were wearing them under their trackies to help stay warm but were finding they ached less in the winter than the summer. This slotted in with research at the time for compression leggings on the back of rapid muscle recovery times skiers were experiencing due to...thermals.....the rubbish I know even astounds me on occasion >;0)
i wear em coz they keep me warm when its chilly... yes they do help a lot getting the leathers on and off but honestly ive never noticed the difference in fatigue wearing them or not wearing them... i wear them in slalom so i dont have to wear a flappy shirt and still keep my skin out of the sun, seeing as a im a white mo-fo i get burnt easily...
but all in all skins are there just to make you look cool...
reason so many of the crew wear them is that i got the early team free skins before bathurst and before we went oversea's but everyone has loved them for both looking pro and feeling good under leather sweaty leather can be a bitch to move in. It's all bout movement in leather but rashies do the same as that's what the crew wore before the skins deal..
