Hi guys after looking around the forums I couldn't find what I was looking for. I have a kracked skull scimitar coming it and forgot to have it delivered bare. I was wondering with the gloss finish do you have to sand it all off (most people take this road) or can I get away with a light sand then spray paint it on top with a urethane layer to finish? Cheers

If you look around silverfish you can find tons of forums about this stuff.

first things first, best first board you can go for man, seriously an awesome deck for a learner (i had an M1 myself) i gave mine a light hand sand before hitting it with fine coat of spray paint.

I just got off the phone with a friend who works a bunnings and he said I'd need to sand it down to the bare wood or the paint won't stick. But then you just did what he said not to. Hows the paint holding up? Did you finish with gloss on top?
well he doesnot varnish them heavily thats the thing, i used a corseish grit paper and sanding block and gave it a once over then finished it with wet dry sand paper on a sanding block, it took me about 10-15 to sand and god knows how many years later the paint is still staying on except where i have bottomed out the board over stuff on. Biggest tip is to use good quality spray paint, Go out and track down some good stuff from brands like Montanna, Ironlak, Belton etc
