Sydney also had the advantage of being more central to the rest of (east coast) Australia so its easier to get to other places for events and cheeky sessions.
Not much surf in Adelaide?!? Mate... You gotta look out the window when your driving around!

adelaide sure has some great hills, but its a very very small city and you will get bored as fuck very easily there. also not much surf around, and also the majority of skaters are under the age of 16 so you will have to battle with grommets all the time, and spend 80% of your time booted off the hills from police...
you want to move to sydney, thats where its at right now. theres great hills, great surf, great skate shop (www.hopkin.com.au) and some of the radest riders around. take a trip to adelaide once your here, but forget living there!
australia is full of great runs not just around the cities its a fucking big place. as far as beaches go their are thousands of miles of them which are all better then city beaches ie bondi sewer outlet

New South Wales is FULL OF HILLS. stick to the cities if you need work, get into the country if you wanna see cool shit.
Hire or buy a van you can sleep in. Get some camping gear. Job done. Have fun!
There is plenty of surf in Radelaide. Our hills swap with your waves though, you gotta drive a while to get to hills, we drive the same distance to get to waves (not me anymore mind you, but those who surf).
Dunno why Sydney would be more exciting that Adelaide to live in? We have beaches, pubs, clubs, hills, skateparks, movies, shopping and pokies galore! We even have paintball! Dunno what you would get in Sydney that you wouldn't get anywhere else (except the Hop Shop of course!)
The cops are baaaaad in Radelaide though. If you don't like cops Ludwig then don't come to Radelaide, they hate skaters!

O, and what jacko said about the groms is right. You will do more driving and less skating in Radelaide than you would Sydney because only about 5 people in Radelaide have licenses at the moment. the rest are grommy groms with snotty noses and dirty hands.
in oz some cops will give you a hard time were as others wont some just dont know the rules on skaters. you can all ways find work if you dont get fussy any bucks are good bucks is the attitude you have to take. once your out of the cities the cops are thin on the ground where i live we only have two who only work 8hours a day and even then there hard to find.

There is a Finn living in Brisbane at the moment. Mr. Paska poika Ville. You might want to avoid Brisbane because he will keep reminding you of your shitty efforts in the ice hockey...
