Hey guys,
I'm pretty new to longboarding, been doing it for about 2 weeks. I want a board that I can learn on that can do pretty much anything (cruising, carving, a bit of downhill and maybe some ditches if i can find them). I am about 180cm and around 75kg and i've got $350 to blow. I was looking at the Original Malakai 40 but don't want to wait ages for postage thats really expensive. I've checked out the Gravity 39" carve and 40" Brad Edwards on Boardshop and the Dregs Tear Drop on hopkin but I'm just not sure what to get. Any advice would be sweet.

Drop thru's can be top mounted, making for a more versatile deck. High or low.

180mm wide randal style trucks can turn thesleves inside or be super stable at high speed. Its all in the bushes.
Get a variety of different duro's to have in your kit. Even if its just 1 set of hard and 1 set of soft. You can combine to make a make-do medium.

Learn to push with your back foot as a priority. This will help you to learn foot breaking safely.
i've got a loaded pintail, flex 4, 70mm/83a zigz, 150mm randals. i love it, it's my do-anything board.

+1 for getting slightly stiffer if you're between ranges. my flex 4 is super flexy (like a rolling trampoline). it's a load of fun but sometimes i find myself wishing it were a bit stiffer.

also keep in mind that when with time your loaded board will become slightly more flexy. you might be able to mitigate this by switching the trucks (e.g. comparing paris and randal, paris have a slightly shorter wheelbase which will make the deck feel stiffer) or messing with grip tape (apparently)
Ok so I've got:

Loaded Dervish, Flex 1
Paris 180 trucks
Orangatang 70mm 4President 80a
Bones Reds

With free shipping thanks to Hopkin.

Thanks for all the help guys
