shouldn't this have the D rings on the strap instead of the plastic clip in. to pass IGSA tech.
Crossy, up until a short time ago, the D ring setup was the only setup the IGSA would allow. However, due to the "clip-ins" being of better quality, better than ever before, "clip-ins" are being allowed IF they can pass the "pull apart" test done by the Tech Inspector at any IGSA event. Basically, the helmet is done up, and the Inspector tries to brake the clip by pulling as hard as possible on both straps at once.
At "BtB", I'll allow "clip-ins", if they pass this test.

look aawesome
they have never tested that on mine. they always test the straps, but have never done the buckle.

this new helmet looks pretty sweet. The fit in the test pics wasn't fantastic though, hopefully it was just a bit small for his head.

Ash, I had a good chat with Marcus and Koma at Bathurst, and the strap/clip issue came up. I saw Koma do this test with some of the helmets of the guys close to me going through Tech. Personally, I don't like clips, I prefer "D"s, but as long as it will hold your helmet on your head and not come apart, it'll pass.

i would always prefer a clip instead of a D ring, if something went wrong and you needed to take off your lid quickly or there was some sort of an emergency, a D-ring would be a really shit idea... sure its secure but can be a little too secure... the clips are fine.

i dont get why the tech inspectors have to try to 'break' the straps, sure you gotta check and see if its nice and secure but pulling as hard as you can isnt always the best idea. 2008's newton's playground saw jezzas BRAND NEW helmet get broken coz marcus pulled the straps right out of the helmet! he pulled them like he really wanted to pull them out... there arent any situations to get in when you will find your helmet getting pulled that hard while your in a crash, and if you do somehow get into that situation i dont think the straps are going to help you coz chances are your entire head will be pulled from your body at the same time...
d-rings are annoying to put on...
but wen riding DH i think its a better to have a more secure strap.
wen ur just messin around with a lid on clips are fine.

yeah i agree with Jacko, helmets are for impacts not upward pulling force and if you were in that situation probably better for the clip to break rather than you neck.... i'm pretty sure if you yanked the clip on my helmet with a lot of effort it would break too..

what's the advantage of this helmet over a charlie or an icaro? looks like it has similar amount of eps foam on the inside shot... and it's kinda ugly...
has twice as much foam and you will notice that it is round at the back which is better for crashing as it wont hookup, your kinda ugly...
