Hey guys, i've progressed heaps lately and need leathers desperately. I basically need to know how tight they need to be? And whether the short torso length of conventional motorcycle leathers(that pulls on the crotch) really matters once you're in a tuck for a while?

i tried a couple of sets on and they all felt ok but they were pretty baggy and tight in the crotch as I said.
Plus I have shitloads of growing left.

when i was looking for some i did some reading on silverfish and basically got:
dont blow heaps of money on your first set
buy if they fit tight but with appropriate room
less patches/stitching the better blah blah blah.
i spent $500 on a set reduced from $900
they are a bit long in the leg and the arms but it doesnt make much of a difference. im 17 ill grow a bit taller anyway (i just tuck the extra length in the arms underneath) if its your first set im sure theyre gonna get abused so i wouldnt worry too much about getting the exact proper fit.. its when you blow thousands when you want an exact fit.. you could always get them taylored
i also believe proper technique is always gonna make you faster then a bit of baggy leather sticking out
anyway thats my opinion
well you want plenty of maneuverability at the joint and crotch areas i reckon. the tighter they are the harder it is to be comfortable in ur tuck and crouching in the corners. however you don't want too much movement in the suit or you'll still get friction burns from the inside.
its certainly difficult to find the right sized leathers for a good price. Kristian is right about going cheap for ur first. you'll fall heaps in the beginning and you WILL damage them doing so. however, if ur not the one paying for them then why not.
check all the bike stores and of course ebay regularly for second hand stuff. if they don't fit u, you can always sell them again on ebay or to someone else here.
Cash converters to mate, lots of fairly cheap pairs in fairly good nick. The good thing about old stuff is you ran ruin it without feeling to terrible about it.

Peace
Dani
