could i then just flip the hangers on either trucks if not just flip the back truck hanger?

nope. get the evo. get the trucks. put it together with wheels and bearings and go ride it. it will rule. u will love it. the only modifications you will ever need to make is a bushing/wheels change when u want to try something new, which will not happen for ages coz you will be so stoked with the stock-standard setup.

ride now, ask questions later

sorry, i was told that by ben martain, not anyone from landy,

ironically the dh race race was designed around indy's, the 90 degree kingpin might explain the dewedging ;)

clearly noone should listen to Sean Meaney about skateboards.

ironically so was the DH race which has dewedgeing in the front and back

Ahh, that makes perfect sense now!

Daniel, the board will be fine with whatever trucks you put on them. I don't know how long you have been skating for but Im going to assume at this moment that you wont be reaching any speeds of over 80KM/h. An Evo with whatever trucks will be fine. Maybe try some different bushing duro's to find what's right for you. Without sounding to rude, I would venture the guess that Sean has never reached over 80KM/h and if he has it is very rarely. Jacko and Gabe are both super rad, super gnar skaters who work in a shop and deal with these questions every day, all day.

The Evo was designed to go downhill, fast and in a straight line. It is heavy, low to the ground and not agile in anyway. It is not an ideal sliding board so if you are thinking you might wanna learn some stand up slides, pendies or whatever then this isn't the board for you. Riding has changed a lot since the Evo was released and it is fast becoming an out dated board.

At the end of the day it is your choice and you will love whatever you end up getting. Just be wary about what advice your taking and who it is from. Don't nerd out on setups.... Just ride them.

Sigh...

The evo feels like utter-shyte with a 50° plate on the front.

it's got a 14° wedge for eff's sake... it turns 15° when you stand on it.

15+35= 50° a sensible front truck angle.

15+50= 65° ugh... you can actually watch the hanger vibrate from side-to-side on rough roads, not nice.

Put a 50° or 60° plate on the tail and it's actually agile, (given that it's a big freekin speedboard, so don't expect a twitcher)

With a 42 it's super stable, a 35 and it's the barely turning drag-board everyone says it is.

I can pump my evo with a 35/50 combo.

you've just got to put the right bushings in it, and know how to tune it.
it requires a looser and/or soft nose, and the tail has to be harder. This is because of the split axis.

get the bushings wrong and it lifts the front wheel or just doesn't turn enough

I swear most people simply fail to set them up right.

Guess what, it's super low...

This means you can add risers, wedges, etc and it'll still be low. nice.

No - it's not the über board - that doesn't exist.

But you can sure as hell drift the snot out of it, make it rail, push it for miles - everything but go backwards well.

it's been podiumed well more than enough times to prove it can go around corners...

kk thanks for all the advise but... one more question, would i be better off buying a rayne nemesis rather than an evo because its good for sliding and DH?

also the reason ive gone towards the evo is because i already have the new apex 37 for freeriding and sliding, and that i wanted a board strictly for DH

In many ways the nemmy is better, but, I killed my nemmy in three months - didn't abuse it either, at all.

Went back to my ancient evo...

Couldn't recommend rayne at all after that... or bamboo for that matter. shrugs.

I believe it's a combination of bamboo sucking at handling torsion (no cross plys)

and the nemmy's neck sending all stress to one point... eh...

I have an Evo set up with Bears, with 52* plates, purptang 4pres, and god knows what bearings.........

I freeride it an DH (No, i probably havent taken it over 80km/h), but when i freeride, i can pump it fairly decently....and it has NO wedging.....

I slide it sometimes, but mainly use it as a cruiser, cause its easy to push, and have fun going down hills... :D

i skated an evo with randal 180s not fliped and it was fine with speeds of like 80+ but i dont think an evo was made for a thrash around in freeride
