ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey folks. If you have any O-tangs, Zigs, or Black Ops that are totally coned out, chunked, cut or otherwise written off, I'm happy to offer cash for them. Depending on what condition they're in and how much thane left on em I'll give up to $10 for each wheel.
Post up a pic so I can make an offer.
Cheers.

Making bushings?
when you start cutting the bushings fitz, can you tell me the price of two sets of barrels? 83a?
tang bushings....
lol i reckon jacko can probly help you out, he goes thru those badboys in about a day!!
but when im finished with em theres no thane left to make bushings out of....
Hi Fitz,
I'm not going to try turning some myself but i'm interested in the technique and direction of the cut/turn,
do you use like a hole saw on an arbour and drill 90degrees to the axel, so your drilling a plug of thane
out then turn it on the lathe
or
are you drilling paralell to the axel?
so you max OD of the bushing is the distance from the bearing outer, sidewall seat, to the outside of the wheel.
Just tryin to picture it all happening in my head.
Wayne.

Close. Yes 90 deg to axle. I just cut the wheel in 4 with bandsaw then turn it.
I tried the holesaw technique before but it's a pain in the butt. If you're gonna turn it there no need to make it round with a holesaw. Just cut the bastard :)

These are ones I've made so far. The green one is from an old abec11 flashback. Super wide like a JimZ.
You can still see pieces of the core in the thane.
I dunno if I'm prepared to sell em cause it take alot of work to shape em up. I hate seeing waste.
I think i'm gettin it, so wheel lies on its back gets sliced paralell to the axel, cut it into pie shaped
1/4's (triangles)?
so if the wheel was still whole the 4king pins would be poking out radially, like bike spokes?

Spot on.
Hey fitz,
Do the bits or core effect the bushing at all?

Not noticeably. Esp if the bits of core aren't against the hanger. That's where the most amount of flex happens. It took a few goes to work out where the sweet spot is to get the most thane out of the wheel and the least amount of core.
