take a look at some canons man, i think the 1100D is the only one in the series that dosent have video...

Alota boys are using like 5Ds and 7Ds, but if they are out of your budget look at the 650D.

I know a fair few people that use a canon 600D for making videos and doing some sweet photography

if your low on budget maybe go a canon power shot g12, does 720p HD video (good enough for most applications) has full manual controls for stills and has a hot shoe.

Its also worth looking at some of the sony SLR cameras as they can be had on a low budget but are still pretty solid.
the nikon J1 and cameras like that are not bad options either, they have interchangable lens's shoot high def video and have a bunch of lens choices both by manufacturer and 3rd parties.

Personally i shoot on a fitted out 600D

If your really serious about photography you might wanna look at a 7d by canon, the video capabilities are amazing and even some Hollywood movies have been filmed on them. If you get it, in the future you might wanna look at splurging out on a luxury lens as well, they're worth the extra money. If your looking for a compact camera get the new canon G1 X, it's competeing with some of the dslr's. I wouldn't go any lower than the G1 X if your serious about getting into it. I use a 7d and I'll say it was worth every cent but if I was on a tight budget the G1 X would by my next choice.

I have the 550D it's sick, it can film in like 30 fps in 1080p and 60fps in 720p, you definitely need to invest in a good lens though, remember camera body's will go out of date but you lens (if you treat them right) will last you for ages.
