Freeriding. what do we really know?

free riding is riding free... the term is overly used in situations and therefore is starting to loose its original meaning and gaining other meanings... but the official term means you are riding free, at your own leisure, where ever you please. this does not mean that you 'are doing stand up slides' or things like that, it simply means you are riding your board.
the term has been used a lot to describe a style of riding as this style of riding is NOT racing, as the main forms of longboarding and downhill skateboarding have been developed to in recent years.
so the question is: what is YOUR definition of freeriding?
could it be doing stand up slides down some little hill in your nearest housing estate? or is it pumping your tiny little city cruiser down to the beach? or is it busting massive stand-up speed checks into hectic hairpin corners on some of the gnarliest mountain roads? or is it at an event where the run is not a qualify run and it is not a race heat?
but if you really want an 'official definition' of freeriding i would suggest a dictionary, thats usually the best place to look for definitions... otherwise try silverfish, that website is suited more to questions like these ones

Ahh yes, the ancient healing powers of urethane.
Whenever i skate im freeriding, i love skating, and no-ones forcing me to skate [except rob and jacko on occasion], therefore im riding free.

just my oppion is that free riding doesnt include commuting to places, like i skate to work so i dont become a fat kid thats not free riding. if i were to skate to the beach for fun its free riding
