Custom Face Shields For Helmets

I Have Heard There Are 2 Main Ways For The Overall Shape For The Full Face Custom Shield.

1. Being The Solid Shield That Is The Shape Of The Face Opening And Is Fastened To The Helmet
2. Is The Face Shield That Can Be Lifted Like A Normal Motorbike Helmet.

Im Looking At Doing The Opening Shield As In he Day I Like To Ware Sunglasses, But I Was Wanting To Know Of Any Handy Little Tips By Experience i.e. Tinting, Little Vents ect.

why do you put a capital letter at the start of every word?

What helmet do you have? post up a pic so we can help you attach a visor to it

or you can go to your hardware store and get a replaceable visor for their work face sheilds

Thats what i did for my first helmet and it was already curved and had holes in the top to attach to the actual visor thingo. I just cut out the shape of the open part of the helmet and then you can stick velcro on it so when you close the visor it sticks to the helmet.

However this will only work if you have a MTB helmet that comes with a sun visor. You have to unscrew the sun visor and then attach your new face sheild using the holes for the sun visor

Ah, I have made a flippable visor for my Giro Remedy. The helmet already has a row of bolt holes above the face opening for attaching the peak. I used the outer two of these holes to attach the visor, using the original bolts for attaching the peak. The visor has two "tabs" that extend upwards at each end, with a hole drilled in the centre of the bolt to go through.

The bottom of the visor is slightly larger than necessary to incorporate a thin strip of velcro, which attaches to the corresponding strips of velcro attached to the helmet below the face opening. Without this the stiffness of the visor causes it to flare out and not sit flush with the helmet.

It's not quite as convenient as a proper flippable visor because the velcro is slightly fiddly. My first attempt didn't work because the visor wasn't quite long enough to use sufficient velcro. The second attempt looks solid.

If my words make no sense and photos are necessary I'll take some and post 'em up.

Ha Ha Yeah Sorry For The Capitals I Dont Know Why I Do It I Just Do. My Helmet Is An Oneal Backflip DH Helmet Its A BMX/Mountain Bike One. It Does Have Holes For A Visor That I Could Utilize For A Flipping Visor. I Know That There Is A Massive Sheet Of Polycarb At Bunnings For $15 Im Going To Get For It.
My Ideas Are Similar To Bugs On His Remedy. Velcro Is A Handy Thing, What Was Fiddily About It Bugs?

When you flip it down you have to be a little careful to line it up right before you bring velcro to velcro. And when you flip it up you have to tug a little to get the velcro to unstick.

My way is rediculously easy to do on a Bell Drop, which is the helmet used by Graham from Rayne.
I'll go over it briefly and if you need clarification then ask.

1. Find some 1-2mm polycarb at bunnings (not Mitre 10 cos they suck wang)
2. Stickytape two pieces of A4 paper together.
3. Stick paper to helmet. Draw dots where mounting points are (where the visor thingo used to be mounted)
3. Place a torch on the inside of the helmet and trace the outside of the face opening with a texta.
4. Take paper off and draw another line about an inch around the bottom two edges and a little extra ontop and on the sides. Leave as is for the chin guard.
Tape paper onto polycarb.
Cut out shape.
Drill holes where the mounting points are
Attach with previous bolts
use heat gun/uber powerful hair drier to warm polycarb
Bend down two edges on either side of chin.
Presto awesome visor.
Add some velcro on the 'tabs' to either side of the chin and you have an adjustable visor.
