Charly No Limit .Vs. Predator Dh6 .Vs. Icaro 4flight Cut

Sup guys,

I'm Tossing up between a charly, predator or a icaro. Vaguely remember some shit being spoken about one of these helmets. I want to hear your opinions on these helmets. Cheers!

i tried both charly and predator, my predator only weighs 915, the charly has better vision and the predator visor doesnt go fully up so it gets annoying
paragliders go pretty fast :P

the charley isn't designed to crash at high speeds lol.. its a helmet designed for when hang gliders smash their heads into the bars of there hang glider..

Dave Robbo has said himself , that there is not really any " true evidence" of one helmet not beingg as safe as another. the predator is designed for dh skating though, but then again the charly is designed to be crashed at high speeds too, so pretty much, go with whatever you want. the chance of you actually stacking right onto your head whilst wearing it is quite low, so get one that is most comfortable for you
Actually Merricks right the main design for hanggliding helmets is to protect your head from the thing thats keeping you in the air. When a hangglider crashes because they are strapped to the fraim when it hits the ground, cliff, house ect. the first thing that happens to the pilot is they swing upwards towards the frame work of the glider. Very rarely does the pilots head hit the ground first before impacting on some part of the gliders frame. These helmets aren't designed to carry the impact of a skaters head hitting the ground at 60-70-80kph scraping along hot mix.
Yeah I tried a Charly today and although it looked sick! was light and had great vision beside you it also felt a little cheap and felt like if I stacked in it, it would just crumble away. I think the Icaro is the go.
was the international shipping $10?

All right cheers.

guys, there is a very easy way to determine how safe a helmet is. its by no means the only way or the only design criteria that affects a helmets safety, but the amount of EPS(expanded polystyrene) foam in the helmet is a good indicator. Lets use your average CPSC 1/2 shell helmet as a benchmark. that has around 1/2" of EPS foam. Charly and Icaro helmets have about HALF THAT. look inside a icaro or charly and see for yourself.most people might feel comfortable wearing a 1/2 shell helmet up to 50-60kph, then go to a full-face. keep in mind a charly or icaro has LESS foam than your 1/2 shell helmet, only difference is a chinguard, which you can flex quite easiy.

a predator has about 24mm which is around 3/4", about the same as a bell drop or similar helmet. A SNELL or DOT approved motocycle helmet has about 1" of foam. the foam is the stuff that breaks, compressed or gets destroyed in some manner when you smack your head on the ground.

I beg to differ Alex, if you do a bit of research and read up on European airborne sports ratings you will find this about the 966 rating.

"European Standard EN966: Is the specification for helmets for airborne sports. Helmets are tested for shock absorption, specifically against kerbstone impact (simulates being dragged against rocks). Other tests performed are penetration and the strap strength tests. There is a requirement for field of vision, low weight, to be put on and taken off easily, be usable with glasses and not significantly interfere with the ability of the user to receive acoustic ambient information."

All these helmets are good, pick one and wear it instead of your lid
