Build a Skate Park

If you could build a Council Skate Park Catering for Novice to Pro for less then $80.000 ,Who would you get to design and build it ,and what would you like in that skate park.

Part would be modular on  existing flat areas,part would be fixed ramp/pool style with vert to utilise an apitheatre setting of the existing 'skate park that could do with a face lift.

The mobile parks he designed and built were insane, and worth looking at.

Mark, let me know if you need any advice or want to go over anything design wise.

Where is it being built ?

80K won't get you a huge area of skatepark. But a good design will make it worthy for novice & shredder.

If you are looking for someone to design & build I would recommend Scott Spring.

He's done some nice parks out west NSW, Wellington & Molgong are a couple you could have a

look at on CDS in the Haunts thread. There are construction photos etc.

Some of the big skatepark design companies can charge huge design fees. Scott is a grassroots skater & builder

who puts a lot of extra attention into the job. Let me know if you want his details.

Stay away from that pre-cast concrete ramp shit if you can help it. It's a rip off & boring.

it would be downright awesome to see a snake run which is longboard friendly in it as well as offering some transfers for street skaters/bike riders, as far as i know its not too pricy to do something like this either.... but i could be horridly wrong on this

i got a skate park built in ceduna a tiny town in SA it took me 4 years of sending the council a letter every 6 months .......6 months after i left the town they built it and i have still never skated it ..........we had to write letters at school just to learn how to set them out and that and i chose to send the council one i made 2 copys one for the teacher and one that i sent in ......and every 6 months i wrote a new letter asking for one .....

It's a little bit like that.  The council tell me that there is no need for a longboard friendly skate park because no one but me has asked for it in Brisbane and they won't act until someone, or hopefully many people, start asking for it.

Looks like it's time for a petition mate. Write one up and take it to your local skate shop, and chuck a copy up on this site.

Shouldn't take too long to get the support you need.

I have thought of doing that, but never got around to it.  I know a rad little spot that can be made into a tight, short race track and a snake run all in one.  Already a bike track and it's in Coorparoo, so nice and close to the CBD
