ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey ASRAites,

I'm looking at buying a longboard.  I got a cheapy street board off Ebay but want something better.  I'm looking at a couple of brands but don't know much about them and can't find much online.  Has anybody heard of Risen Longboards?  What about Gravity?  I'd appreciate any advice anyone can offer on either.

Also, does anyone know where I can buy a reasonably priced set of knee and elbow pads?  I've got a helmet but can't seem to find decent priced set of pads anywhere?  I'm keen to hit the Thursday night sessions in Sydney but won't until I have the right protection.

Keep on skatin'

your in sydney mate, go in and check out hopkin racing, Hop and the rest of the guys there will take good care of you and help you more then most guys on this site.
Thanks Sean - I live in the Eastern Suburbs and am carless so getting to St Leonards is a bit of slog. Working 5 1/2 days a week doesn't help either. But I've got a bit of time off soon so hopefully I will get over there.

Thanks again for the advice, mate, much appreciated.
come on by the Hop Shop and have a look at what we have. we also have plenty of boards set up for people to test out. Best way to find out what works best for you is to ride them first and that can sometimes be difficult. we are open monday-friday 9.30-5.00 and sat 10.30-4.00 or something so yeah just come on by and have a jam, we got everything that is good =)
to your question i have not heard of risen but gravity are a well established brand.
Jacko, I hope to get across your way when I have a week off in February. Thanks for getting back to me.

Jack, thanks mate. I thought I'd heard of them, but had to ask anyway. Cheers...

Definitely have a crack at a Gravity. Risen look a bit iffy, not too keen on the construction.
Or you can scope out Dregs, Sector 9, Madrid, the list is near friggin' endless.
Peace
