AGM Agenda
Proposed Constitutional Amendment
The current ASRA board proposes to amend the Constitution to allow for seven board members, instead of the current five. This will be done by adding a treasurer and one committee member. The amendments will be voted on as a single issue.
The proposed amendments are as follows:
1. Schedule 14(1)(b): delete and replace "2 ordinary members" with "3 ordinary members";
2. Schedule 14(2): amend to read as follows
"The office-bearers of the association are to be:
a) the president,
b) the vice-president,
c) the secretary, and
d) the treasurer"
3. Delete Schedule 16(4) and add a new Schedule 17 for the Treasurer to read as follows:
"The treasure must ensure:
a) that all money due to the association is collected and received and that all payments authorised by the association are made, and
b) that correct books and accounts are kept showing the financial affairs of the association, including full details of all receipts and expenditure connected with the activities of the association."
Nominations
Nominations for all board positions have been received and they are therefore elected unopposed. As such, there will be no voting at the AGM.
ASRA needs people to:
Most of these tasks require just a few minutes each week, and some require an hour or so each month.
None of it is that hard, and you will gain some very useful experience!

Hey All,
Brisbane local, skating downhill since late 2010.
Michael English feels it would be appropriate for us to work side by side for the South East region side of things...after a brief chat with Maga and Tony at Renzy's Riot I feel this could work out...the ideas we were throwing around were extremely relative and could be worked upon. (2 registered points earning events per year from each state etc.. etc...)
After being around and seeing how active ASRA was to seeing its current state I don't want it to dissapear from the community as it was a key binding agent before social media giants took over. It made fr an obvious good base of operations and communication.
Hand be a job and I will be willing to learn the process and continue to help the rebirth and growth of ASRA.
cheers , Max.
im interested in state representative
Many thanks for the update Haggy.
I will put my hand up.
Brother Pete Smith...I'd like to see your hand up again please.
ASRA AGM
Date: Sunday, 22 March @ 5pm
Where: Google hangouts. Details will be provided prior to meeting
Agenda will be circulated prior to AGM
I met last week with the current board of ASRA (minus 1). We had an open and frank discussion about the future of ASRA.
Our hope is that some new people put their hands up and are interested in seeing ASRA develop and flourish into a strong representative sporting association.
Current board members:
Haggy Strom - President
David Robertson - Vice-President
Colin Beck - Secretary
Pete Smith
Ned Michalk
Of the above, Robbo and Colin are stepping down. I have yet to speak with Ned about her intentions. We intend to add a new position of Treasurer, so if anyone is happy to take on some bookkeeping duties put your hand up.
Other roles/duties which people may volunteer for include:
- Membership Officer: serve as a liaison to members, deal with questions and issues and ensure membership list is up-to-date
- Website Guru: keep the website running, manage any issues, help with content etc. Or you could build a whole new website if you are so inclined.
- Rankings Officer: set up a rankings system, update with event results, liaise with event organisers about results
- Media Relations: someone who likes speaking to the press, prepare media releases, etc
- Events Officer: communicate with event organisers, help create events on website, help event organisers with any requirements, etc. I recently provided an event organiser with event proposals, traffic plans, etc and we can do this for other people
- Merchandise: Go wild!
Note that the above is not meant to be an exhaustive list of the various duties and tasks involved in running ASRA. Nor do they have to be divided in exactly this fashion. But it hopefully gives you an idea of all the different things that happen within a sporting association such as ASRA.
It would also be great to nominate state representatives. Let me know if you are interested in this.

Hi All
As Bernie has indicated, we will set a date for the AGM very shortly - it is likely to be 14 March but this will confirmed shortly. We will also by then have some clarity as to who on the current board is keen to continue and who is keen to hand over the reigns to some new blood.
I appreciate the patience everyone is showing with this. I understand it has been frustrating to see ASRA be relatively dormant as a website and organisation over the past year. I am very interested in seeing the organisation continue and build into the future. In order to do that we definitely need some new energetic people involved.
Some of the roles that we need new people to volunteer for include:
- Website/Facebook: Someone with a strong interest in keeping the website up-to-date and active. This involves adding and approving events and members, keeping on top of payments for the domain name, and looking at ways in which the website can be improved over time. Some web development knowledge would be helpful!
- Membership: How can we grow ASRA's membership? This is critical to maintaining a viable organisation going forward. This links in with the social media side and involves maintaining membership records and communicating with members.
- Rankings: As you all know the rankings have unfortunately not been updated in quite some time. Colin was running this side of things previously. However it turned out to be a substantial amount of work and very complicated. ASRA needs someone who is very comfortable with excel and numbers generally to take on this task. Colin is happy to assist in a handover; however I spoke with him yesterday and he believes a new ranking system needs to be employed due to the complicated structure of the old one. Perhaps we can utilise the IDF ranking system. If you are into excel, numbers, and have an eye for detail you may be the one for this job.
- Events: As mentioned by Jacko below it is helpful to have some people involved who know how to run events, are eager to plan events and help other people organise events. We can set up a Google Drive folder so that all board and committee members
- Organisational Development: ASRA needs to develop and adapt in order to keep up the interest of its members and stay relevant. We also want to build and develop our relationships with government bodies at both the state and federal levels. Perhaps you have an interest in management and athletics? If so this could be a job for you.
- What else????
I'm happy to stay involved in ASRA to be a sounding board for new people who are getting involved and/or elected to the board. I can guide people in the right directions and mentor even though I'm pretty hopeless with social media and excel spreadsheets...
Thank you to everyone who is already expressing their interest in being part of ASRA's future and committed to spending time and energy to do so.
I'll be back shortly with more information about our AGM.
The current nominations are a great show of support and respect for the many years of tireless work by Robbo, Bugs and Haggy.
Just a note to clarify something.
The date of this event IS NOT same as the DATE for the AGM.
The current board need to set the date, at a time which works for as many of them as possible.
Hey everyone,
Been skating here in Radelaide for close to 5 years now, the scene died here a couple years back but it seems to be on the rise again with a lot of new skaters, will be busy with school this year but I'm looking to get the community going here again and organise some events. Mainly looking to focus on my local scene but I'm willing to help ASRA stay alive however I can!
gday. you all know me. i can nominate myself for events coordinator or whatever it is it would be called. can help with the organisation of events for NSW (and can help on a national level by giving assistance).
Structure/planning/budgeting/advising/contacting people/writing proposals and traffic plans... that sort of stuff.
i can be a contact for those who need advice on the steps needed for planning events, help proof read documents before submitting and advise on how to properly structure an event.
I could also be a good contact as far as gaining event sponsors go. I know many people in the biz and can help introduce events to companies in search of event sponsorships.
all that and then some...
get at me
G'day, Long time follower of the sport from watching X games when biker sherlock n Dreggs were out here, To now being involved at some level.
Seeing what Australia has to offer from locations to riders is unbelievable, and to be able to work with a team of people that have the passion n drive for the sport from the ground level up.
to be involved with helping the local to international scene grow is what i want to do.
