Event Description

Riders are to meet at my house BEFORE 10.am, we will do a riders meeting and i will give a quick brief of how the day will pan out and we will head out from there. If you are late you will miss out, we will be running on a strict time schedule and need to get through each spot on time. I will hand out maps for the locations of each spot at the riders meeting so if you miss that you will not know where to go.

What do you bring? You need to bring a HELMET. if you do not have a helmet, you do not skate. this is not negotiable. You also need to bring a board, otherwise you might have a hard time skating. You will also need to wear a funky costume, the theme is Retro/Old skool. Now this theme does not need to be all about skateboarding, you should get creative with your outfit. Think outside the box. Retro/Old skool can cover a large range of different outfits and you will be judged on this as well. You might not be the best skater on the day but you might win by earning points for your outfit!

We will hit 5 different spots, each spot will be different and accomodate different styles of riding. The spots will range from straight hills for carving/sliding to corner sessions to a mix of both. Riders will be judged on STYLE and COSTUMES.

How the jam will be judged: There will be 3 different judges, Myself, Robbo, and my mum (good old mumsie) Each of these judges will be focusing on different aspects of each run. I will focus heavily on style, Robbo will be judging the technicality and creativity of your run, and mum will judge purely on what she sees. my mum is not a skateboarder, so if she thinks it looks good you will score good, if you look average, you will get average points.
At each spot you will get 3 runs, and each run gets scored out of 10 by each judge. After three runs those scores are then averaged and added to your total score for the day. Your costumes will also be judged! At each spot your costume will be given a score out of 5, so you can potentially add 25 points to your total score! you also have the chance to change your costume before you get to the next spot if you do not think your costume is stylin' enough and have the chance to earn more. If you really want to be dirty, you also have the chance to sabotage someone else's costume so they can score less at the next spot, its up to you how you want to play.

So what is style? "how do i earn more 'style points'?" you might ask. Style is how you look when you ride your board, if your wearing a sweet costume and are getting creative and looking rad you will score higher, its not about who can pull the sickest slides, its about who can look the best while riding a skateboard. If you draw some rad lines, lay it back, throw in a few cross steps or put out a leg while carving and look like your in the zone you will score just as much (if not higher) than someone busting out huge slashes and doing switch slides. Although it is not primarily a 'slide comp', sliding will be scored high if you do it with style and creativity. Going down the hill doing a few colemans looking unko will not score well, but slashing driveways, smashing into bins, carving switch into slides and lookin rad will also score high.

At the end of the day we will meet back at my place for the awards ceremony and a barbeque, there will also be a big party that night so stick around and boogey on down.

If there any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Just a general reminder, if you plan on attending the skate event you must have already RSVP'd to let me know you are coming. I want to have a serious list of people who are attending to make sure the day runs smooth. If you have not yet RSVP'd im sorry to say you are too late. If were are lazy or have just plain forgot talk to me and i'll see what i can do. By RSVP i mean letting me know personally that you are attending not just clicking on the 'attending' button on the right. If you rock up on the day without letting me know prior unfortunately you will not be able to participate.
Sorry if this causes any dramas but as the event will be held at several locations throughout the day i just need to know numbers to ensure we have enough seats for people without cars and do not want people to miss out.

The meeting place in the morning is at my house in Curl Curl, which is near to Waringah Mall bus stop. If your coming from the city you get on any L bus (L90, L80, L85 bla bla bla) and its a 5 min skate. All you have to do is get to my place and we will have people shuttling us around to get to the skate spots. i will send out an information sheet later on in the week with a plan of attack for the day
