SPONSORS:

ADO from Cre8ive Sk8 is sending some prizes!

Good one Ado,... great cause!

Sean from Daily Grind has also come on-board with some product to give away as prizes. Rock on!!

EXTREME BOARDRIDERS

A company that has been selling longboards for years down at Glenelg has also come to the party. Good one guys!

They have some $25 dollar vouchers up for grabs for the top riders on the day.

NEWS ABOUT BHC

The Mitcham Council are thinking of putting a dam at this site. Its a public recreational reserve, (that the residents have worked on making paths and a beautiful picnic area by the creek.)

The dam will require all of the residents houses to be a compulsory aquire by the council.

Needless to say the residents arent happy about the idea of this. One that I spoke to said the elected council official that got in apparently had a "No Dam" campaign, and NOW they seem to be going ahead and stonewalling the residents.

We will lose this spot in the future if it happens. (but that is not as much consequence as the residents face) its a 40 zone with no lines marked, so its supposed to be a "legal"spot.

Also it doesnt connect to any main roads at the top.

that sounds pretty sick

Yep. If the section of road we use is small, then we can have full control of the skaters, and we will not be upsetting traffic. This will not be a free for all,...we will have control over who is on the track and we will spot for any traffic so skaters can be aware of cars.

This is not a road closure, so maintaining discipline on the road is important.

so one full track then all the rest a bit smaller??

Hi Tim. I have some events planned,.... I wont make you kick push the track over and over again. Full cross country would be about 1.5 - 2 kms. This will be a one-off, all-in type run. A china bomb with less bomb and more scramble.

We will have skate demos (4 at a time) and freeride demos (one at a time) mostly concentrating on the last hill.

I've never done the track before but on google maps on the link above Tim, the whole road goes for about 3.5km but Matty did say that not the whole road was being used.  Length in time depends on how good your push is or how enthusiastic you are when it comes to the uphill sections.  Send a pm to Hamish Eglinton as he lives on the road and skates it all the time so might have the best idea.
