Dunno! Maybe a bit of both. Have to wait and see the hill first. If it's as steep and fast as Adrian tells me it'll be more like (E). If there's any flatter bits there might be a bit of (D) too.

It'll probably be rideable with a downhill board with loose trucks. At Newtowns the GS had cone spacings of about 6-10 metres at the top, and Rob McWhinnie rode it on a downhill board, not a slalom board. Ramon rode an Airflow longboard through cones that were about 2 metres apart at NACCOS Conehead Cup.

whats the spacing gonna be bugs? d or e?
D. GIANT SLALOM: Giant Slalom uses cones as course markers, spaced 8 to 20 meters apart. Top speeds of 25 to 35 mph are expected. In some skateboard races this term is used to describe a slower version of fast slalom with large offsets.
E. SUPER G: Super G uses cones as course markers, spaced 15 to 25 meters apart, with top speeds of 30 to 45 mph expected. Note that super G races may be counted in the downhill rankings rather than the slalom rankings, at the discretion of the organizer and IGSA.

Here is a map, i'll try and email it out to everyone that we have on our list.
Bus is right its about 20mins from the centre of the city. Unfortunatly there are no buses that run all the way out to the hill, however if you catch a bus to stuart and grab a taxi from there it will probably cost you the least amount.

There is a maximum of 60 riders for transport reasons.
At the moment we have 50 paid and confirmed riders.
Contact us on the beatthebastard email address in the poster if you want to ride. However you are leaving it a bit late.
We are also on the look out for marshalls and volunteers, so if anyone gets to the hill and thinks they can't ride it, we can give you something to do.

There will be no riding on the hill the friday before or the monday after, with the exception on friday for the ASRA officials who are setting the SGS course.

FIVE DAYS TO GO. NO MONEY OR CONTACT BY THEN AND NO RIDE, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, AS WE NEED TO FINALISE THE LOGISTICS OF TRANSPORT!!!!!!

I know that was shouting, but I wanted to wake up those couple of people who are still sleeping on it.

Cheers all

The SGS is shaping up to be gnarly. I've been told the road is STEEP and has a few corners with >90 deg corners, so it's gonna be an interesting course. I'm gonna try and make the course as "slalom-like" as possible and rideable with a slalom board, but if the road is too steep it may end up making more sense to ride a downhill board with loose trucks. Either way I promise a few straight stingers at the end.

There is no uphill runout; you will need to either footbreak or slide to a stop.

A-drain is suggesting (and possibly requiring) leathers and a full-face helmet. For the SGS!

I'll be able to be able to give more info about the course on the Friday night as I'll have set it by then. See you in Townsville!

I'm guessing it's at least a 20 min drive from the centre of Townsville to the race location. But that's a guess. Need local knowledge.
