Australia has been mentioned as a possible venue for the 2015 World Championship Slalom  race.

Such an event will need serious sponsors to help with travel costs and accommodation, and a good spot to have it, with state government "major events" support, and local govt support.

So what do we all think?

Are we up for it?

Why would we put cash in for this. What input have they had into slalom in Aus?

We cant even get a real series happening here.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see how its really done, I just think they should sort it all if they want it here and ask for volunteers to help out, not us take on the running, financing and planning

Dave is spot on with his comment.

not sure what you mean about 'major sponsors to cover accommodation and travel costs'

is that similar to the IGSA, where you pay the president a butt load of money to fly out and just kinda keep score for the day? and then put him up in quality accomodation and have volunteers run the show all day for no money? doesnt make sense... doesn the world slalom have an organisation? if you had of said "we need sponsors and money to run the event, logistics for the event, getting people hooked up for working on the event, and to advertise the event itself" then that would make more sense and more people would be involved i reckon... i wouldnt sell it as "we need to raise money to give some old guys a holiday..."

unless your talking about travel costs and accommodation for the riders who wish to have a stab at becoming a world champion!

Thought bubble popped!

Until we get slalom and downhill properly recognised by the National Sporting Organisation, (Skate Australia via SbA) nothing much will happen, because the NSO is starving the sport of oxygen.

Right now SbA is only supporting its own brand of AM street league, and 5-12 yo learn to skate programs.

The NSO does not even support skateboarding for the Olympics, so don't expect to be able to "Go For Gold" anytime soon.

I think skateboarding is a demo sport at next Olympics?
