Why you should support Aussie Skateshops...invest in Australia.

Overseas skateboard e-tailers and retailers don't put on races; they don't sponsor local riders.....hell, sometimes they even send their factory seconds with dodgy components claiming it is the real McCoy. Supporting local skateshops is investing in your sport, and investing in Australia.

A little something I penned....for your consideration.

epic, wise words bruce,.hopefully we start acting patriotic rather than claiming it

Be smart, Shop local and support the commnity. Yes it will cost you a bit more to shop local, but here's why you should buy your gear from Locals and local shops:
1. When you buy locally you hard earned money goes back into 'Stralya's economy
2. When you buy locally that hard earned cash goes back into the  local scene instead of America's
3. When you buy locally you are helping out your fellow members of our Sk8 community .
4. When you buy locally, even if it isn't locally produced gear, the companies keep track of how much they sell to 'Stralya and provide the shops with prizes and what not for events according to the volume being purchased.
5. When you buy locally you are helping support events such as races, slide jams and clinics.

Don't be cheap and selfish!  Support local shops and think about the bigger picture, not just yourself and your wallet.

I'd just like to share a story from my latest experience with an Aussie retailer.  I recently purchased an item from Hopkin.  There was nothing wrong with it, though for other reasons, I realised that it wouldn't suit me and my board (note:  I did not use the item).  I contacted Hopkin who said that I could return the item, no trouble.  When I returned it, I was not only offered store credit, but a full refund of the amount paid.

It is customer service like this that comes from supporting your local skate shop.  You could never get this from an overseas retailer, and even if you were offered such a discretionary option to return, you would still be slapped with a large shipping fee.  Make sure you support the companies that put on a shop front - the customer service is well worth the few dollars you may save from buying online
