ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

OK, it isn't quite live yet, but the ASRA crew plus other volunteers have arrived, and we're busy setting up here at the Scout Camp. Tomorrow we'll be busy with last minute stuff, plus rider check-in which starts at midday.

It's wet, and the forecast is for the rain to continue until Thursday night. After that it should be mostly clear.

There's a lot of wildlife here - possums, deer, bush turkeys, lyrebirds and the most common of all - leeches. This place is seriously crawling with leeches - salt is supposedly the thing to ward them away.

A friendly leech outside our front door

See you all tomorrow at rider check-in.

Adelaide super-grom Charlie Harris on track now.

Waiting for trucks to go back up the hill?

There was a delay with the trucks, but we've had riders for a little while...just no results coming through from Robbo at the finish line.

Yatesy has a late run in skateboard cos he was busy with classic, and he posts eighth fastest.

Hawaiin ironman Ethan Lau on track, followed by Leeso, followed by Amy in what looks like Yates' old leathers.

Starting to get colder and darker here - rushing to get the last guys down the hill before dark...

And we are finished for the day!Just in time. Cattle truck full of riders heads down the hill, and we'll be back tomorrow for more.

A note - after quals tomorrow there'll be a 64-person repechage bracket. The top four from that will make their way into the finals where they'll join up with the 60 fastest qualifiers.

After driving down the hill at the end of the day I realised that 90% of the track never dried. All times were done on a wet track. A lot of the slower times were cos people slid out, and got back back up and carried on. Will it dry by tomorrow? Maybe. Will it dry by Sunday? Who knows.

leaches

drawing ontment(magnaplasum) after they drop off sucks out the irritant so it only iches for a day rather then a week

channel 9 gave keira a good plug on the news

There were a lot of crashes today due to the wet track. Chris Sanders went to hospital with concussion and the need for some stitches in his head. Deanne Panya had her arm in a sling. Dani Hawes had his knee in an ice pack after a crash in practice, and didn't post a time in quals. Louie Pilloni only had one non-crash run all day, and it was the fastest qualifier.

Great day never worked so hard as a volunteer raceing the best

Thanks Gareth...the volunteers today did a great job - many thanks.to everybody.
