ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

6mm compressed rubber brake soles, using Australian rubber, exactly the same as the overseas soles.
$10.00/pair plus postage.
Can also supply 9mm soles, if anyone wanted to go that thick, for $15.00/pair plus postage.
Matt Ryan used these soles at "BtB", and had just started on the second sole by the end of the second day. ("BtB" was a good testing ground)

Hi Abdil,
These soles are good when it comes to standup, and even some Classic runs, but the reality is that the only long lasting rubber for streetluge is tyre tread. As you'd be aware, the standup guys break differantly with their foot braking when compared to luge....luge has alot more weight to slow down so we break heavier. I can get 9mm rubber but it doesn't last overly long luging.
Cheers.

How long can these soles last? Are they similar to Rick Wilson's NoFuel Racing brake soles? Because those don't last very long (I have completely gone thru 2 pairs of those and wore them down to nothing within a couple of good hard uses on long fast runs)....

I have never tried the Rogers Bros brake soles though. Can anyone tell me how long they last?

I am still using brake soles that I got from Steve Pearl of Wild Fro Racing (he used to run the Street Luge School at Dinosaur Point in California) and I've been using them since 2003 and they still last me until now! Granted that I've been wearing them out unevenly, frontways (more wear on the heel area with little to no wear on the toe area) as well as sideways. I have however removed the soles from my shoes, cleaned them up again, rotated them backwards (so the thicker toe area is now at the heel) and put them on some new shoes which are slightly smaller than my old ones.
Hi Sakamoto,

Good for standup eh? Hmm, I guess I'll try a pair then, seeing how I'm just about to get started in standup. Ching can probably help to get them from me since she's in Melbourne now and will be back in Malaysia by the end of the year. Ching, you can probably try them out too and see if you like them! Then you can let me know. :)
