hello all. im new to the longboarding scen and dont know much about the terminology of it. im planning on getting a board that specifically states have counter sunk hardware will void warranty and that only the other two can be used. What hardware is this for and why would counter sunk void its warranty? from a quick google im guessing this refers to the screws/bolts used to mount the trucks to the board is it?

call me kook to my face, i'd love that...anytime benbro, anytime.

if it says dont use countersunk bolts its probably because the deck is a carbon fiber/foam core layup, and using countersunk can crack deck leading to dammage.

This is a countersunk bolt:

this is a Pan Head bolt:

The difference between the two is that the countersunk will actually sink into the board so the top of the bolt will sit flush with the top of the deck. When you have wooden decks that is fine for the bolt to sink in as wood is strong and can take a few dings and what not. With the Pan Head bolts it sits solid on the top of the deck and does not sink in. When you have a carbon/foamcore board you do not want the bolt to sink into the deck as it can be like puncturing it. The materials used will then be weakened and it can form cracks around where the trucks are mounted, resulting in a weakened board. For those boards you need to use pan heads so they sit solid on top without hurting the board.

What Jacko said, plus add some washers between the screws and the deck to protect the deck.

thanks for the all the info guys, help me quite alot!
