ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey all, I just started longboarding and want to ease into free riding. I went up to Brown hill Creek as I had heard it was a gewd place to start. Im not sure if I was on the right road but it wasn't very exciting... Anyone Know a place to start like 20 k or 30k hill/road? I brought a board that I thought was what I thought good for freeriding, but I dont know, Is it? http://fusionsk8.com/cambered_longboards_fusion_cascade.html

The wheels I believe are to grippy or hard I believe (came with the board)

P.s. the board is like stepping of a cutter as its cambered and quite thick...

I recently went down a so i thought non steep road went out of control and screwed my arm but all better, to stay on and stay in control do I just tighten the trucks?

Any help I'd really appreciate! Cheers :)

Hey mate
Yea brown hills isn't that exciting but there's sections where you can hit speed up too and in excess of the ones your after! It d be worth getting In contact with the guys on the Adelaide sliding thread like Matty and phill  as they frequent brown hills aswell!

Cheers thanx for that, I just want too get an idea as I most likely wont be skating until late this year. In a HipHop Crew and we are going for the World HH Titles in America, so don't plan on breaking any bones or anything before then but thanks for the tip. Also, do you reckon the board is ok for this? As im sure U have a good idea!

Free riding = riding for free in a location of your choice and in whatever takes your fancy.

Any board is good for that.

BHC is Ok if you are totally fresh and learning from scratch. The other spot is the Botanical gardens in the city, there is a nice easy slope there. The wheels will be fine, if they are new and the lips are still sharp they might be a bit harder to slide at first but the more you get them sideways the more they will ''break in'' and the easier things will get. As Will said, best to start with some people who can show you what's what and you can mimic them.

Welcome!

O, and take your board to the states!

Thanks for that, I know that ur not ment to skate in the botanical gardens, do u reckon I'd get caught or fined? and yea are the wheels (71mm x 51mm 80a Duro) ideal or need softer?
